Tulsa Men Earn Nine Wins at Cowboy Classic

STILLWATER, Okla. — Four Golden Hurricane men competed against various athletes from SMU, Wichita State and Oklahoma State Friday through Sunday at OSU's Cowboy Classic. Overall, they came away with nine wins at the Greenwood Tennis Center, the site of this week's ITA Men's Central Regional Championships and the NCAA Championships in May.

The tournament featured both doubles and singles play each day of the event. In doubles, sophomore Timothy Carlsson Seger and redshirt freshman Gus Tettamble went 2-1 over the weekend, winning 8-5 over SMU's Callaway Clark and Eric Hadigian on Friday and grabbing an 8-3 decision over Vanja Hodzic and Richey King of Wichita State on Sunday.

Senior Volodymyr Zakharov and freshman Victor Tosetto went 1-1 together, grabbing an 8-0 shutout over Oklahoma State's Leighton Allen and Ty Wunderlich on Friday and falling 8-4 to SMU's Julien Steinhausen and Kyle Sillman on Saturday.

Seger and Tosetto each led the way with two singles victories. Seger's wins came in straight sets over SMU's Kyle SIllman (6-1, 6-1) and Oklahoma State's Leighton Allen (6-3, 6-2). Tosetto's victories came in three-set battles, coming 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 against Misha Kvantaliani (Wichita State) and 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 over Calloway Clark (SMU).

Tulsa men's tennis will head back to Stillwater this week for the ITA Men's Central Regional Championships, spanning Wednesday, Oct. 18 through Sunday, Oct. 22.
