TULSA, Okla. –– The University of Tulsa women's basketball program added three high school signees to its 2024 signing class today, it was announced by Head Coach Angie Nelp.

Tulsa added twins Brooklyn and Kennedi Alexander from C.E. King High School in Houston, Texas as well as 6'3" forward Whitney Sullivan from Orangeville (Ill.) High School.

"We were looking to add size and versatility in our 2024 class and we believe we have found the perfect fit with our signees.  Not only do they fit our style of play, but they align with our program's culture and will continue to build on our strong foundation of Tulsa Women's Basketball," said Nelp. "We're excited to welcome Brooklyn, Kennedi and Whitney to our Tulsa family."

The Alexander sisters are 6'0" wing players who have been integral parts of the C.E. King High School program since their arrival last year as juniors. The Class 6A C.E. King High School is currently ranked 18th in the state of Texas to start the season.

Kennedi Alexander

"Kennedi is an athletic and versatile guard who has the ability to score from multiple levels. She is a force on both ends of the court as a disruptive defender," said Nelp. "Brooklyn has the ability play multiple positions and can instantly score inside and out. Her rebounding ability will immediately add to our team."

In the 2022-23 season, Kennedi averaged 12.7 points, six rebounds and four steals, while Brooklyn scored at a 12.1 clip and grabbed seven boards a game in their first year at C.E. King. They each earned TGCA first-team all-state honors and played in the TGCA all-star game a year ago.

Previously, the sisters played their first two years at Channelview High School, where they started as freshmen and sophomores. Kennedi tallied 19 points and eight rebounds her sophomore campaign, while Brooklyn averaged a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The duo has earned first-team all-district accolades and academic all-district in each of their three seasons. Kennedi was the District MVP her sophomore season at Channelview and they both have been named to multiple all-tournament teams in their prep careers.

"Kennedi is one of the most versatile players I have ever coached in my 17 years as a head coach," said C.E. High School Head Coach Arthur Prevost. "KK has all the tools to be an outstanding college player, she is super long, athletic and has a skill set of a combo guard.  She is a great student of the game who has played a ton of high-level games whether it be AAU or High School."

"Brooklyn is the leader of our team. She's a two-year captain and the voice of the team on the floor. She has expanded her game from being an inside player to the best 3-point shooter in the district," said Prevost. "BB's size makes her a tough matchup because she can go inside out.  In all my years I have never, never had a kid who came to practice every day with a chip on her shoulder. We challenged her and continue to challenge her in the weight room because I feel like her best days are ahead of her. She has an unbelievable knack for the game and is a very smart, smart player."

The 6'3" Sullivan comes to Tulsa from Orangeville High School in Rockford, Illinois, where she made an immediate impact on a program that hadn't had a winning girls basketball season in 20 years. In the last two years, Sullivan led her team to a combined 55-10 record and back-to-back NUIC North titles.

Sullivan was the NUIC North Player of the Year as a sophomore and has been a unanimous first-team all-conference selection the last two years. She earned second-team all-state accolades during her junior season.

"Whitney is a dynamic player bringing size, skill, and toughness which will fit our style of play perfectly. She will be a valuable asset to our team," said Nelp

As a four-year varsity starter, Sullivan has averaged a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while dishing out four assists and blocking three shots per game. As a junior, she averaged 14 points and added 11 rebounds, four blocked shots, three assists and three steals.

"Whitney came in as a freshman with goals in mind – be a great teammate, be a leader and change the program. But with the understanding it takes a team effort to do so. She is a team first player and always acts and makes sure everyone is in a good place. She talked of wanting to play college basketball but knew if it was to work out it would," said Orangeville High School Coach Jay Doyle.

"Why do I think Whitney will continue to find success," Doyle added. "She knows it's how you start each day and act. She knows she can't do it alone but can lead by example. Whitney deserves every accolade and praise she gets because she has never asked for it, she continues to work each day like it's a new day and has something to prove. Whatever Whitney decides to do she will have success."

Sullivan also has starred on the Rockford Heat AAU team.

WHAT THE AAU COACHES SAY . . .
ON WHITNEY:
"Whitney's scoring abilities as a tall guard will bring a lot of excitement to Tulsa basketball. Whitney is a great player and person that will add value to the team and continue the tradition of family for Tulsa women's basketball. I look forward to watching Whitney and the team thrive in the future." – John Penny, AAU Coach, Rockford Elite

ON KENNEDI & BROOKLYN:
"Our Texas U program is so proud of Kennedi and Brooklyn Alexander. Kennedi has been blessed with physical tools that she undoubtedly will continue to develop in her college career while Brooklyn, super talented as well, has such a fierce determination that it rubs off on all those around. We look forward to how they will help Tulsa Basketball on the court but also are so excited that they will be culture adds for the amazing culture there. Coach Angie puts such a high value on culture and character and we are so happy that two of our #TXUFam will add to that." – Rich Anderson, AAU Coach, Texas U.
