TULSA, Okla. ––
Tim Dalger scored a career-high 24 points in leading Tulsa's valiant comeback effort in an 86-75 loss against the Wichita State Shockers (12-11, 5-6 AAC) Sunday afternoon in front of 3,764 fans at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

Dalger made 7-of-14 field goals and knocked down a career-high 5-of-7 three-pointers en route to his 24-point performance. The junior tallied 20 of those points in the second half. Sam Griffin added 14 points and freshman BB Knight had his first double-digit scoring game with 13 points

The Shockers had four starters score in double-figures, led by Jaron Pierre with 19 points, while Jaykwon Walton and James Rojas added 17 points apiece.

"We knew Wichita State coming in was playing good basketball. It just seems like they've come together, and we saw that first-hand today. Credit to coach (Isaac) Brown and their group. It was too much for us to stop. I thought that we played harder in stretches late, but not throughout enough to give them enough resistance, especially around the paint. I know that's what we were most concerned about – their ability to get it around the rim. We just didn't have enough resistance there today," said Tulsa head coach Eric Konkol.

Tulsa (5-16, 1-10 AAC) trailed by as many as 24 points in the second half and was down 21 with just under three minutes to play when the Hurricane put it in high gear. The Hurricane used a pressing defense and hit some key baskets to cut the deficit to eight points three times in the final forty seconds.

A WSU driving layup by Isaac Abidde made the score 77-56 at the 2:58 mark. Dalger scored the next eight points on two treys and 2-of-2 free throws in cutting Tulsa's deficit to 13 points, 77-64, with 1:39 left on the game clock. Griffin's three-pointer made it a 10-point game at 79-69 and Dalger's dunk off a rebound got Tulsa down to an eight- point deficit with 0:36 remaining.

The Shockers made 5-of-6 free throws in the final 0:14 to hold off Tulsa's comeback bid.

Tulsa finished the game connecting on 12-of-30 three-pointers but was outmatched inside as the Shockers had a 46-24 edge for points in the paint. WSU shot 52-percent from the field, while Tulsa hit 42-percent overall and was 40-percent from behind the arc.

HOW IT HAPPENED
