Tulsa Athletes Notch New Personal Bests at Bryan Clay Invitational and Sooner Invite

AZUSA, Calif & NORMAN, Okla. — 15 of 17 University of Tulsa track athletes put on career-best performances Friday and Saturday to wrap up action at the Bryan Clay Invitational and the Sooner Invite and Multi's.
 
Junior Christian Baker set a new personal best of 3:43.32 in the men's 1,500 Invite in Azusa and cracked TU's all-time outdoor leaderboards as the eight-fastest finish in the event.  
 
In Norman, Tulsa had five top-10 finishers, including sophomore Jayda Gibson and junior Elizabeth Roca in the women's 400-meter dash. The pair took fifth and sixth place, respectively, in a flight that featured 29 total competitors. Gibson (55.28) and Roca (55.42) were among the 15 TU student-athletes to set a new personal record.  
 
Freshman Novo Onovwerosuoke took the 10th spot in the men's 200-meter dash out of 45 total athletes, finishing in 21.30.
 
Tulsa's next meets are the John McDonnell Invitational (April 20-21) in Fayetteville, Ark., and the Payton Jordan Invitational (April 21-22) at Stanford.
