Tulsa's 16th-ranked men's soccer team earned a 4-1 win over Texas-Rio Grande Valley on Sunday night at the Hurricane Soccer Stadium.  The Golden Hurricane moved to 1-1 on the season, while the Vaqueros fell to 0-2 overall.

"We had a really good start to the game, especially coming off the short turnaround with the long road trip to Louisville," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said.  "We pressed really well and made improvement in that area of our game and that got us off to a good start.  Tonight, we did a good job of putting our chances away and we want to keep growing in that aspect of our game."

Tulsa will return to action on Friday, September 1 at crosstown rival Oral Roberts beginning at 7:00 pm on the ORU campus.

How it Happened
Malik Henry-Scott scored Tulsa's first goal of the season as he drilled in a cross from Yuki Sekiguchi from 12 yards out with just 9:04 ticked off the clock.

Juan Pablo Gonzalez evened the score as he headed in a cross from Jason Robles just 1:26 into the second frame.

Mike Eijgendaal put TU back up in the72nd minute as he headed in a goal from six yards out on rebound attempt taken by Sekiguchi that bounced off crossbar.

Henry-Scott gave the Golden Hurricane a two-goal cushion in the 80th minute.  Sergio Baena served the ball into the box to Tom Protzek who controlled it, passed it to Henry-Scott who then one-timed it into the back of the net from seven yards out.

Baena earned his own goal in the 85th minute off a pass from Camilo Vargas from 10 yards out into the lower right corner.
