CORINTH, Texas -
The Tulsa women's golf team opens the 2023 season at the Sam Golden Invitational this week, Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 11-12, on the 6,413-yard, par 72 Wildhorse Golf Club.

Tulsa is one of the 12 teams in the tournament. They are joined by BYU, Charlotte, Houston, Kennesaw State, Missouri, Nebraska, TCU, Texas Tech, Tulane, UTSA, and host North Texas.

The shotgun start will get underway at 8:30 a.m. on Monday with 36 holes, while on Tuesday 18 holes will be played to finish out the invitational.

Tulsa is coming off an NCAA Championship appearance in the 2022-23 campaign in a year that saw the Golden Hurricane finish among the top-5 in  eight of 13 tournaments with victories at the Barbara Nicklaus Cup and the Dale McNamara Invitational.

Their efforts to get back to the NCAA Championships this year will be led by 5th-year senior Lilly Thomas and sophomore Grace Kilcrease. Thomas has 18 career top-20 performances with eight of those coming a season ago, while Kilcrease led the Hurricane in stroke average at 72.4 and turned in seven top-10 finishes.

Thomas claimed her first career victory at The Bruzzy last spring. The quintet of golfers at the first event also includes junior Lovisa Gunnar, sophomore Jenni Roller and freshman Norah Seidl. Gunnar had a 73.6 stroke average last year with seven top-20 finishes, while Roller carded a 74.4 average.  Seidl comes to Tulsa from Austria.

Junior Sydney Seigel and freshman transfer Allyn Stephens will compete as individuals at the Sam Golden Invitational.
