Keaston Willis to Miss Remainder of 2023-24 Season

TULSA, Okla. –– Tulsa men's basketball guard Keaston Willis will undergo surgery to repair a fractured 5th metatarsal of his left foot and will miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season. The graduate senior will seek a medical redshirt to return to the Golden Hurricane for the 2024-25 campaign.

"I'd like to start off by saying thank you for all the support to myself and my teammates," Willis said. "From the day I committed, I have felt nothing but love from the entire Tulsa family. Dealing with an injury is never easy. Although I am very disappointed to announce that I will be sitting out the remainder of the year to heal, I'm also announcing my intention to medically redshirt and return next season.

"I'm excited for my teammates and the energy around this team, and I can't wait to be back in the Reynolds Center next year to run it back."

Willis played in two games this season, averaging 12.5 points and 3.0 rebounds. The graduate senior led the Hurricane with 15 points in a win over Loyola Chicago on Dec. 5.

"It's heartbreaking any time a player experiences an injury," Tulsa head coach Eric Konkol said. "There are only so many opportunities for people to play this game. Keaston has worked hard with our medical staff and done everything he could to get back to the court this season. However, in discussions with him and our staff, we feel it's best for him to do everything possible to get healthy and play a full season next year.

"We'll apply for a medical redshirt for Keaston. We're excited about his return to the Reynolds Center next season."
