This will be Tulsa's 17th meeting with the Blazers in a series that dates to the first meeting of 2005 and the last being in the 2023 season. Tulsa is returning home after splitting a pair of games with North Texas (L, 1-3) and UTSA (W, 3-0) in pursuit of bettering their fourth place standing in the AAC.

In the 2024 AAC preseason coaches' poll, UAB was ranked 13th as they hope to continue a streak of surprises as they are currently No. 10 and riding a win against Tulane (3-2). With the third-highest kills per set, Tulsa will need to keep an eye on Jorda Crook, who has a 3.51 kill/set and the third-highest point total in the AAC. Tulsa will also need to avoid the block from Madison Page as she averages 1.07 blocks/set the second highest in the conference. Tulsa will also need to watch the strong serving UAB with 1.77 aces per set as Tulsa hopes to better the team hitting percentage as they are sitting 12th with .191 percent.

Tulsa will then head into Sunday having played Memphis 37 times and hoping to continue the hot streak of wins over a Memphis team that is hungry for success. As a topped-ranked service team with 1.90 aces per set, Tulsa hopes to continue an outstanding defensive performance that has kept them at the top of the conference all year. On a 1-game win streak, Memphis hopes to continue a run for a higher spot in the conference as they sit in the No. 9 spot in the AAC. With Memphis DS Abigail Schlueter in the back row, Tulsa will need to keep the ball away as she ranks second with total digs and fourth in the conference with 4.01 digs/set.

Brayden Hipp, who recently crossed the 1,000 assists milestone continues to lead a successful offense with power hitters Tatum Tornatta and Rachel Brown at her disposal. Defensively, Marta Pecalli is set to reach the 2,000 dig mark on Friday's match. Also on the defense is Tytiana Johnson who continues to be a dominant force at the net with a solid blocking scheme.
