Tulsa Faces UTSA and Memphis in Final Week of Regular Season

TULSA, Okla. — At No. 4 in the American Athletic Conference standings, Tulsa welcomes UTSA to the Donald W. Reynolds Center on Friday, November 15th, to take on the Roadrunners at 6:00 p.m. Tulsa will then embark on the 38th meeting against Memphis, set for Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in Memphis as a hungry Tulsa team looks to capitalize and take its final two matches of the regular season.
 
Tulsa's matches will stream on ESPN+. Fans unable to attend the action in person can subscribe to ESPN+ to watch select Golden Hurricane volleyball, football, tennis, soccer, softball, and basketball games. As for the Roadrunners, this will be the 16th meeting in a series that began in 1984. UTSA leads the series with 11 wins while Tulsa has four in their 15 meetings. Tulsa was able to defeat the Roadrunners earlier this season in a 3-0 sweep with UTSA hosting. The Hurricane looks to continue the two-game win streak through the final regular season week after knocking off ECU and Charlotte on the road last week.
 
Preseason polls placed UTSA at No. 7 in the AAC while Tulsa was ranked No. 10. Tulsa will need to find its way around the top-ranked UTSA blocking defense as they average a conference-leading 2.27 blocks per set. Tulsa will need to utilize its league-leading 17.09 digs per set with Mia Sorensen leading the attack for UTSA with 2.75 kills/set. The Hurricane will look to capitalize on UTSA's kills per set as they rank 12th in the conference what's their kills per set mark?
 
As the AAC's third-ranked blocking team with 2.22 blocks per set, Tulsa hopes to continue an outstanding defensive performance that has kept the Hurricane at the top of the conference all year. Tulsa hopes to dominate at the net and continue to be the leader in the opponent hitting percentage limiting opposing teams to .171 hitting.
 
Earlier this season, Tulsa swept Memphis in a 3-0 decision in the Reynolds Center. With Abigail Schlueter in the back row, Tulsa will need to keep the ball off her platform as she averages 4.12 digs per set, ranking her fourth in the conference. Being ranked in aces per set behind Tulsa's Brittany Bacorn is Memphis's Jordan Heatherly with 0.40 aces per set. 
 
The Hurricane look to utilize senior libero Marta Pecalli as she continues her strong defense for her final year with the Golden Hurricane. Heading into the final week of the regular season, Pecalli ranks first in the league and 35th in the Nation for digs per set (4.81), and first in the AAC for total digs (457 for 40th in the nation).
 
Freshman setter Brittany Bacorn also has 0.46 aces per set for first in the AAC and 37 aces on the year ranking her No. 3 in the conference. Junior setter Brayden Hipp is staying competitive in the league with 623 assists and 6.56 assists per set. She's also ninth in total digs at 280.
 
Fourth in the conference for hitting percentage is senior middle blocker Tytiana Johnson, who boasts a .332 hitting percentage and ranks first for total blocks (115) and first for blocks per set (1.37).
 
Tulsa is 17th in Division I and first in The American for team digs per set (17.09) and 40th in the country for opponent hitting percentage (.171).
