Tyshawn Archie named to weekly honor roll
TULSA, Okla. – University of Tulsa guard Jaye Nash was named The American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week, while sophomore guard Tyshawn Archie picked up weekly honor roll accolades for their performances in Tulsa's win against Southwestern Christian, the league announced on Monday.
Nash tied a freshman record at Tulsa with 10 assists in 20 minutes of Tulsa's 96-63 victory. The Memphis, Tenn. native only turned it over once in the contest and added three rebounds. Nash connected on his only field goal attempt in the game, a 3-pointer in the second half. In limited minutes this season, Nash is averaging 2.4 assists and has a 3.0 assist to turnover ratio.
Archie led all scorers with 18 points in Saturday's contest. The Houston, Texas native knocked down three 3-pointers and shot better than 50 percent from the field. Archie collected five rebounds, dished out three assists and had a pair of steals.
The Golden Hurricane welcomes the Rice Owls to the Donald W. Reynolds Center on New Year's Day to open The American play. Tipoff for the first game of 2025 is set for 2 p.m. and will air on ESPN+.
