Tulsa Falls to No. 31 Columbia in Houston

HOUSTON, Texas — The Tulsa women's tennis team took on Columbia in a neutral match Sunday and fell 4-0 to the 31^st-ranked Lions 4-0 in the Advantage Indoor tennis facility in Houston. The Golden Hurricane dropped to 8-8 while the Lions rose to 12-3.

Columbia grabbed the opening doubles point in two completed matches, sweeping the No. 2 position 6-0 before clinching at the No. 1 spot with a 6-4 decision to leave fifth year senior Oleksandra Nahurska and junior Ana Naranjo Martinez unfinished at four games all in the bottom the lineup.

In singles action, the Lions proceeded to win the Nos. 1, 3 and 4 positions in straight sets. The match clinch occurred in the third position, where Fatima Keita took down Lily Hutchings 6-2, 7-6 with a 7-2 tiebreaker to seal the deal. Fifth-year Oleksandra Nahurska, freshman Tayla Wilmot and freshman Saniya Singh each left their positions unfinished at two, five and six. Wilmot's matchup at No. 5 Singles was the only spot to enter a third set.

The Tulsa women will remain in Houston to play American Athletic Conference foe Rice (5-8) on Tuesday, March 19, with first serves at 11 a.m.
