Tulsa to Compete at Drake Relays, Stanford’s Payton Jordan Invitational

TULSA, Okla. — In the final push ahead of the American Athletic Conference Championships (May 10-12), the Tulsa track teams are sending student-athletes to Des Moines, Iowa, to compete in the 114th Drake Relays Thursday through Saturday, while a small contingent of men's distance runners will head to Palo Alto, Calif., to race in Stanford's Payton Jordan Invitational Friday night.
The Golden Hurricane will see 18 competitors—10 women and eight men—compete in up to 14 events, including the men's 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400-meter relays and the women's sprint medley. TU athletes will appear in each distance tier this week, starting with Josh Sutton, Lianne Holtermann, Elizabeth Roca and Evan Sanni-Thomas in the short-distance events. Sarah Hosey and Billie Rouse will race in their usual event in the 800-meter run. Tulsa's long-distance runners include Alicen Ashley, Katharina Pesendorfer, Tamara Reeves, Chloe Hershenow and Robyn Kowalski.
Meanwhile, the seven men representing Tulsa at Stanford will be Christian Baker in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and Shuaib Aljabaly, Shay McEvoy, Malte Propp, Jaden Forester, Charlie Krasnoff and James Knockton in the 5,000-meters.
