SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Senior standout Chloe Hershenow claimed the 5,000-meter title Sunday at the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, sweeping the 5,000 and 10,000-meter events for a second consecutive year. Senior Tamara Reeves claimed all-conference honors in the event alongside Hershenow while senior Malte Propp put on an all-conference performance in the men's 5,000-meters.

The Tulsa women's team concluded the weekend with 58 points for an eighth-place finish, and the men's squad finished seventh with 35 points.

Women
Redshirt senior Katharina Pesendorfer kicked things off in the 1,500-meter final, where she would place 12th in a season-best mark of 4:41.47. Senior Elizabeth Roca followed in the 400-meter dash with a 54.43 finish in the eighth lane for fifth place and three points.

After qualifying for Sunday's 800-meter final round with a seventh-place finish in the preliminary round on Saturday, sophomore Billie Rouse repeated for seventh place in the final, this time in 2:13.18 to bring home two points for the Tulsa women.

The Tulsa women came away with 18 points in the 5,000-meter run, led by senior Chloe Hershenow's title run in 16:44.84 for 10 points, senior Tamara Reeves' third-place performance in 16:51.62 for six points and junior Robyn Kowalski's mark of 17:23.12 for seventh and two points. Hershenow stayed behind Wichita State's Lucy Ndungu for most of the race until Hershenow exploded to take the lead in the final lap to lock in her sweep of the long-distance titles after winning the 10,000-meters on Friday.

Action for the women concluded in the 1,600-meter relay as junior Kamree Dye, sophomore Lianne Holtermann, sophomore Raniya Laneau and Roca as the fourth leg dashed to a season-high mark of 3:44.75, good for seventh place.

"We scored most of the points we expected to score and were within an eyeshot to third place," said Director of Track and Women's Head Coach Steve Gulley. "We don't feel like we left points out there though, just need to continue to develop some younger athletes to get to this meet and give us additional scoring opportunities!"

Men
The Tulsa men kicked things off with the 400-meter relay final, where sophomore Zander Baker, freshman Jonathan Lee, sophomore Dillon Stinson and senior Josh Sutton sprinted out to a season-high 42.34 finish as the sixth squad to finish.

The first man up was senior Shay McEvoy in the 1,500-meter final. McEvoy ran a tough race against The American's top runners and finished ninth at 3:48.53. He was one of nine runners in the event Sunday to surpass the Park West Athletic Conference record of 3:49.26.

Tulsa put forth nine runners in the 5,000-meters and saw four finish within the top 10. Senior Malte Propp, who won the indoor title in February, paced the Hurricane with an all-conference run for third place at 14:27.26, earning six points for TU. After a second-place all-conference run in Friday's 10,000-meter run, redshirt freshman Charlie Krasnoff (three points) took sixth in 14:44.43 while junior Jaden Forester (14:49.89) and freshman James Knockton (14:51.18) rounded out the top-10 runners in eighth and ninth place, respectively.

The men's 4-by-400-meter relay wrapped up the meet, featuring Sutton, Lee, freshman Jayden Williams and Stinson with a season-best finish of 3:20.51 for ninth.

"It was a really challenging weekend for us on the men's side," said Men's Head Coach Taylor Gulley. "I don't think we handled the heat and humidity very well, and the guys just routinely looked off. Injuries to some key runners have been really tough to overcome. We had some encouraging performances from some young guys though. Special shoutout to the 4x4 team who ran a season-best without our No. 1 400-meter runner!"
