Women’s Tennis Shuts Down DePaul, 4-0

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Tulsa women's tennis team opened up the weekend on a high note after shutting down DePaul (4-5) in a 4-0 decision Saturday on Purdue's courts in West Lafayette, Ind. The Golden Hurricane improved to 8-2 on the season.
The doubles point came down to sophomore Tayla Wilmot and freshman Isabella Basson in the No. 3 position after DePaul upset the Hurricane in the first position and TU took the two-spot. The remaining Tulsa duo battled in a tight match and prevailed in a 7-5 tiebreaker set to earn the 7-6 win and the doubles score for the Hurricane.
In singles, Tulsa rode the momentum to three straight wins from seniors Maria Berlanga Bandera, Mariana Manyoma Velasquez and Ana Naranjo Martinez in the first, third and sixth lines, respectively. All victories came in straight sets as Tulsa clinched and ended the dual match 4-0.
The Tulsa women will remain in West Lafayette to face the hosting Purdue Boilermakers (5-1) tomorrow at 10 a.m. Central.
