Men’s Tennis Set for Sunday Tilt Against Tulane

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa men's tennis team (9-12) will take on its fourth American Athletic Conference squad in the 5-11 Tulane Green Wave this Sunday, March 30, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on campus.

Scouting the Green Wave
- Sunday will be the 22nd meeting between the Tulsa and Tulane men's programs.
- Tulane holds the series edge 13-8, but Tulsa has won two of the last three matchups.
- In the previous meeting, the Hurricane snuck past Tulane in a 4-3 decision in New Orleans after a two-hour rain delay. Victor Tosetto clinched the win for Tulsa at No. 6 Singles.
- The Green Wave are just 5-11 on the season with wins against Southern, Charlotte, UC San Diego, New Orleans, and Nicholls. They enter Sunday's match on a three-match losing streak.
Tulsa in the ITA Rankings
- Tulsa's No. 1 singles player Alex Okonkwo, a sophomore, remains among the nation's top 125 singles players in the latest ITA singles rankings poll (March 18), staying at No. 102. A thrilling 6-1, 7-6 (10-8) tiebreak win against No. 26 Paul Inchauspe on the road against Princeton, helping send Okonkwo back to the nation's premier list of singles players.
- Okonkwo came just a few games shy of upending the No. 1 player in the country, Michael Zheng of Columbia. He forced a third set with a tiebreaker win in the second stanza, but would fall 4-6, 7-6 (7-1), 2-6.
- Okonkwo and junior teammate Timothy Carlsson Seger jumped up to No. 60 in the doubles rankings after winning five of their last six matches for TU.
- Tuesday, April 1 will be the next team, singles and doubles rankings release by the ITA.
Last Time Out
- Tulsa took on three AAC teams last time out, earning back-to-back 4-3 winners over Charlotte and Rice before falling 5-2 to No. 25 South Florida.
Up Next
- After this weekend, Tulsa will host Creighton (8 a.m.) and Wichita State (12 p.m.) for the home finale and Senior Day on Sunday, April 6.
- The regular season finale will come one week later at Memphis on Sunday, April 13, at 3 p.m. The Tigers host this year's conference tournament.

- Among the 11-member roster, Tulsa features six returning letterwinners and welcomed five newcomers for the 2024-25 season.
- Returning from last year's championship squad are redshirt freshman Calum Jestin, redshirt junior Will Pellegrini, junior Timothy Carlsson Seger, redshirt sophomore Gus Tettamble, sophomore Victor Tosetto and American Athletic Conference individual champion Alex Okonkwo, a sophomore.
- The three newcomers are freshmen Adam Bojkovic (Randolph, N.J.), Connor Doig (Johannesburg, South Africa) and Nikola Puntaric (Ljubljana, Slovenia). They are joined by junior transfers Reiya Komagata (Cowley College) and Luis Felipe Miguel (Liberty).
