Women’s Golf Finishes Fifth at PING ASU Invite

PHOENIX, Ariz. –– The Tulsa Women's Golf program shot their best round of the PING ASU Invitational during the final round of the event. The Golden Hurricane shot four under, 284, to earn a top five finish at the event.
 
Coming into the day, TU was sitting in ninth place, but the Golden Hurricane improved four spots on the leaderboard with their round of four under. The four-spot improvement on the day was the best of any team in the field. TU shot seven-over-par, 871, to earn the fifth place finish. The Hurricane carded 182 pars for the tournament, the third most by any team.
 
Arizona State won the event by shooting 36-under-par over the three-day event. Northwestern finished second with a score of 23-under-par. Kansas (11-under-par) and UCLA (three-under-par) finished in third and fourth place. Tulsa tied with Pepperdine at seven-over-par to tie for fifth.
 
A trio of TU players finished tied for 21st at the PING ASU Invitational. Lovisa Gunnar led the trio on the final day, who shot two-under-par, 70, for the round. She had two birdies on her opening nine before having a bogey and birdie on her closing nine. She was one-over-par 217 for the tournament.
 
Following was Romaine Masserey, who fired a round of one-under-par 71 on the final day. She carded three birdies on the day but had two bogeys. She finished one-over-par, 217, for the 54-hole event.
 
Sydney Seigel was the third member of the team to finish in a tie for 21st place. After leading the team during round two, Seigel was off to a fast start as she birdied two of her first three holes. However, she had a small setback and had two bogeys on her opening nine before having one birdie and one bogey on her closing nine. She shot even-par, 72, on the final day.
 
Jenni Roller moved up 11 spots on the leaderboard on the final day. The 11-spot move was the largest for the Hurricane on the day. She shot one-under-par 71 on the day. She finished four-over-par, 220, for a tied-for 32nd place finish.
 
Allyn Stephens shot four-over-par, 76, on the tournament's final day. Her round of 76 was her best round of the tournament. She finished 18-over-par, 234, for a tied for 70th place finish.
 
Hanna Robinett carded a five-over-par round, 77, playing as an individual in the third round. Over the three-day event, Robinett finished 16-over-par, 232, to finish tied for 68th.
 
The Golden Hurricane returns to action on April 7-8 when they travel to Dallas, Texas, to participate in the Veritex Bank Collegiate hosted by SMU. The event will be held at Trinity Forest Golf Club.
