
Roller Wins Veritex Bank Collegiate; TU Finishes Fourth

DALLAS, Texas –– Claiming the first individual crown of the season, Jenni Roller earned a share of the title. The Tulsa women's golf team earned a fourth-place finish at the Veritex Bank Collegiate.
Following the best round of her career, Roller continued to shine on the tournament's final day. After shooting a 68 in the second round, she shot a three-under-par 69 on the third day. She finished the tournament tied for first and six-under par, 210. This is Roller's first tournament victory and the third top-ten finish of her career.
On the final day, the Golden Hurricane shot a round of four-over-par, 292, as a team. For the event, TU was 13-over-par, 877, to finish fourth. Houston claimed the crown as they shot five-over-par, 869. Tulsa was the only team to card two Eagles in the tournament. Tulsa carded 43 birdies and 162 pars during the event.
Finishing in a tie for 15th was Romaine Masserey. Entering the final round at even-par, Masserey was four-over-par, 76, on the final day of the competition. Sydney Seigel shot a round of five-over-par, 77, on the final day and finished tied for 30th at nine-over-par.
Lovisa Gunnar shot her best round of the Veritex Bank Collegiate on the final day. She was even-par 72 in the third round. Her round moved her up 11 positions on the leaderboard and was the second-best round of the day for the Golden Hurricane. She finished 11-over-par, 227.
Allyn Stephens rounded out the TU players on the day. She fired a round of three-over-par 75, her best round of the tournament. She finished in a tied for 39th after shooting 12-over-par, 228.
The Golden Hurricane return to action on Monday, April 14, when they head to Brooksville, Fla., to participate in The American Athletic Conference Championship. The event will take place at Southern Hills Plantation Golf Club.
