OMAHA, Neb. — Battling cross head winds of 15-20 MPH, the Tulsa rowing team put together four convincing wins across five races against Creighton Saturday morning at Lake Carter in Omaha.
After the Bluejays' A and B teams took the 3V8+ race in 1,500 meters, Tulsa bounced back to win the next four contests, starting with the 1V4+ boat, who won by eight seconds and was coxed by freshman Gizelle Medina.
TU's strongest victory came in the 2V8 race, where the Golden Hurricane dominated 7:18.9 to Creighton's 7:50.9. Tulsa was led by coxswain junior Anna Lackner.
Tulsa then followed up with an 18-second win in the 1V8+ race before finishing up the day with a 7:37.7 to 7:47.3 victory by the 2V4+ boat, who raced on a 1,750-meter course.
The Tulsa rowers will have one more test at Duke's Lake Wheel Invitational on Friday and Saturday, April 25-26, before the Big 12 Championship on Sunday May 18.
