American Conference Announces Men’s Basketball Schedule Pairings for 2025-26

TULSA, Okla. –– The American Conference announced its 2025-26 men's basketball pairings for the upcoming season. Conference play will run from Dec. 30, 2025, through March 8, 2026, ahead of the American Conference Men's Basketball Championship played inside Legacy Arena at the BJCC in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Golden Hurricane will face 12 American opponents. Of those 12, TU will play six teams twice, once at home and once away, and the other six will be split into three games in the Donald W. Reynolds Center and three on the road.
Tulsa will host Memphis, Temple, and UTSA in the Reynolds Center this year. TU only faced Memphis on the road in 2023-24 and played both Temple and UTSA once at home and once away. The Golden Hurricane swept the series with UTSA and split with Temple. Memphis has made the NCAA Tournament three of the last four seasons and is led by 8th-year head coach Penny Hardaway.
The Golden Hurricane will play Tulane, Florida Atlantic, and East Carolina in road-only games this season. TU will play home-and-home games against South Florida, UAB, Wichita State, North Texas, Charlotte, and Rice.
Head coach Eric Konkol enters his fourth season at the helm of the program. Last year in the American Championship, Konkol and TU advanced to the quarterfinals.
Tulsa welcomes 11 new players to the squad this season with the addition of eight transfers, a JUCO product, and two freshmen. Miles Barnstable, Ade Popoola, Myles Rigsby, Tylen Riley, Doryan Onwuchekwa, Terrance Ford Jr., David Green, Carter Benton, and Romad Dean have all transferred in and joined Jaylen Lawal and KJ Martin Jr. to the class. College basketball analytics expert Evan Miyakawa has ranked Tulsa's eight-player transfer class as the second-best this offseason among American Conference teams.
The Golden Hurricane returns three from last season's squad, including Ian Smikle, who started in 28 games. Smikle was named to the 2024-25 American All-Freshman team and finished third on Tulsa's all-time freshman rebounding list with 183.
