Welcome to Season 50 of Tulsa Volleyball
  • 2025 marks the 50th season of Golden Hurricane volleyball at The University of Tulsa.
  • Since 1976, Tulsa has played in 1,588 matches in the program's history, winning 772 in total.
  • 221 different student-athletes have donned the Royal Blue and Old Gold since the program's founding.
  • TU volleyball players have earned 54 all-conference awards, 15 All-America honors and four Academic All-Americas while winning six overall conference titles and qualifying for eight postseasons (4 NCAA, 4 NIVC).
 
Tulsa in Season-Opening Matches and Tournaments
  • Entering this weekend's action, Tulsa is 23-26 in season-opening matches and 5-5 in the last 10.
  • Third year head coach Lauren Ramatowski is undefeated in season-openers, taking down Michiagan State (3-1) in her first career match in 2023 and beating Campbell (3-0) last year at Baylor's tournament.
  • The Golden Hurricane has been playing in non-conference tournaments since the beginning of the program. In tournaments that open the season for Tulsa, TU is 67-72.
 
Scouting the Hosting Cowgirls
  • This will be just the second all-time meeting between Tulsa and Wyoming.
  • The first was in 2017, where the Cowgirls beat TU, 3-0, at Oral Roberts' tournament.
  • Wyoming went 17-13 last season with a run to the Great 8 round in the NIVC under first year head coach Kaylee Prigge.
  • The Cowgirls were picked to finish sixth in the Mountain West Conference with junior outside hitter Paige Lauterwasser being named Preseason All-Mountain West.
  • Tulsa is 3-4 all-time against Mountain West programs.
 
Measuring up the Colorado Buffaloes
  • Saturday's matchup with Colorado will be Tulsa just second-ever match against the Buffs.
  • The first happened in 1986, where TU swept the Buffs 3-0 at a neutral tournament in Wichita, Kan.
  • Colorado went 13-17 last season with losses in three of their final four matches. They did, however, go 7-5 in non-conference contests.
  • The Buffs were picked to finish 10th in the Big 12, while junior pin attacker Ana Burilovic was named Preseason All-Big 12.
  • TU is 4-14 all-time against Big 12 teams.
 
Facing the Cleveland State Vikings
  • This will be the first-ever meeting between Tulsa and Cleveland State.
  • The Vikings went 23-10 last season, winning six of their final eight matches.
  • CSU won the Horizon League Championship as the No. 3 seed to earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament, where they fell 3-0 to Kentucky in the first round.
  • Cleveland State was picked to finish fourth in the Horizon League, despite returning eight members from last season's championship roster, including all-conference standout outside hitter Laken Voss.
  • Chuck Voss leads the Vikings. He enters his 26th season as their head coach.
 
Brayden Hipp Tabbed Preseason All-Conference
  • Tulsa senior Brayden Hipp has been selected as one of 16 American Preseason All-Conference volleyball players.
  • The Preseason Coaches' Poll also designated the Golden Hurricane to finish sixth out of the 13 teams.
  • Hipp has improved in every season she's played for Tulsa. She's coming off a junior campaign where, as TU's go-to setter, she averaged 6.45 assists and 2.89 digs per set.
  • She had a double-double in 17 of 29 matches played and finished with 17 20+ assist matches, seven 30+ assist contests and 17 double-figure dig showings.
  • Hipp enters her fourth and final season at TU with two American Conference Setter of the Week awards, one American Weekly Honorable Mention and two American All-Academic Team selections.
  • In her career, she has averages of 3.79 assists (1,210), 2.37 digs (756) and 0.15 aces (47) … Has 22 double-doubles, 33 double-figure dig matches and 29 contests with 20+ assists.
 
Returning for Tulsa
  • Tulsa returns four letterwinners, including three veteran starters from last year's roster entering their senior seasons. They are outside hitters Beth Bayless and Lauren Eitler and setter Brayden Hipp. Sophomore setter Brittany Bacorn rounds out the returners on the 2025 roster.
  • These four players account for 23.6% of total points, 22.2% of kills, 83% of assists, 46.2% of digs and 19.3% of blocks returning from last year.
 
Team Captain Beth Bayless is Back
  • Since joining the Golden Hurricane in 2023 after a short stint at Oklahoma, Beth Bayless has contributed on all levels of the game.
  • She finished her junior season a year ago with 2.47 points, 2.22 kills and 1.75 digs per set in 92 sets across all 29 matches.
  • Bayless put away 10 double-figure kill contests and came away with six double-digit dig matches and three double-doubles.
  • Entering 2025, she holds career averages of 2.64 points (562), 2.43 kills (518), 1.2 digs (256) and 0.29 blocks (61) per set … Recorded 25 double-digit kill matches, six double-figure dig contests and three double-doubles.
 
Keeping an Eye on Lauren Eitler
  • Outside hitter Lauren Eitler is back for her fourth year at Tulsa.
  • Eitler starred in 96 sets across 28 matches played last season, ending the year with 1.06 points, 0.74 kills and 2.02 digs per stanza.
  • She earned two double-doubles, one against Sam Houston (13 kills/12 digs) and the other in a career game against No. 22 Arkansas, helping TU earn its second win ever over a ranked opponent with 10 kills and 21 digs.
  • Entering her final year at TU, Eitler has career averages of 2.25 digs (704), 1.14 points (356.5) and 0.91 kills (286) per set … Has nine double-figure kill contests, 29 double-digit dig matches and eight double-doubles.
 
Brittany Bacorn is Ready for Action
  • Sophomore setter Brittany Bacorn is ready to bolster the offense after splitting reps with Brayden Hipp last season.
  • Bacorn got in the rotation for 90 sets in 25 matches from last year.
  • As Tulsa's second-best setter, she put up 3.8 assists and 1.88 digs as a true freshman. On defense, she finished with three double-digit dig matches, helping her end the year with three double-doubles.
 
On the Roster
  • TU returns three of seven starters and  four of 12 letterwinners.
  • Returning starters include senior hitters Beth Bayless and Lauren Eitler and senior setter Brayen Hipp.
  • The fourth and final returning letterwinner is sophomore setter Brittany Bacorn.
  • The Golden Hurricane welcomes four transfer players to the roster in 2025. The TU coaching staff hit the transfer portal this offseason and signed San Diego State senior middle Kat Cooper (Springdale, Ark.), James Madison outside junior Olivia Vance (Bixby, Okla.), Loyola Marymount senior libero Lauren Patterson (Portland, Ore.) and Iowa Western Community College junior libero Quinn Swofford (Branson, Mo.).
  • The six true freshmen ready to don the Blue and Gold for the first time this year are setter Meg Goodwin (Tulsa, Okla.), middle blocker Jill Hanson (San Antonio, Texas), libero Milee Jackson (Tulsa, Okla.) and hitters Kylee McCoy (Royse City, Texas), Maegan Mills (Topeka, Kan.) and Ava Steffe (Frisco, Texas).
