In the first quarter, Tulsa (1-2, 0-1 American) took an early lead against the Midshipmen (3-0, 2-0 American) after Green intercepted a pass from Blake Horvath at the visitors' 35-yard line. The Golden Hurricane capitalized on this turnover with a 14-yard touchdown run by Dominic Richardson at the 12:07 mark, making it 7-0. Continuing their momentum, the TU increased their lead to 14-0 with Hayes rushing for a 6-yard touchdown. Navy responded with a strong drive, highlighted by a 35-yard rush from Horvath and an 18-yard run from Eli Heidenreich, culminating in a 1-yard touchdown by Alex Tecza, narrowing the gap to 14-7 with 26 seconds left in the quarter.
In the second quarter, the Golden Hurricane started with the ball but struggled to gain momentum. Navy capitalized on a Tulsa turnover with a drive that culminated in a 2-yard touchdown run by Horvath, tying the game at 14-14. Tulsa responded with a field goal by Seth Morgan from 34 yards out, briefly reclaiming the lead at 17-14. However, Navy executed a late scoring drive, capped by a 2-yard touchdown pass from Horvath to Luke Hutchison with just 10 seconds remaining in the first half, putting the visitors ahead 21-17 going into halftime.
In the third quarter, Navy expanded their lead over Tulsa with a strong offensive display, scoring 14 unanswered points. At 11:09, Heidenreich rushed for a 10-yard touchdown, capping off a drive that included a 35-yard pass from Horvath to Joshua Guerin. Following a Tulsa possession that ended in a turnover on downs, Navy continued their momentum with a 12-play, 48-yard drive, culminating in Tecza's 1-yard touchdown run at 2:05. Tulsa struggled to respond, with their drives stalling.
The fourth quarter began with Navy maintaining a strong offensive push, starting at Tulsa's 24-yard line. Jackson Gutierrez led the charge with several key rushes, including a crucial 9-yard gain to set up a touchdown by Brandon Chatman at 9:07, extending their lead to 42–17. Tulsa responded with a determined drive of their own, as Hayes connected with Calvin Johnson II for an 18-yard touchdown at 6:08, though the ensuing two-point conversion attempt failed. The Golden Hurricane would fall 42-23 to Navy.
