Tulsa Track Sets 2 Meet Records at Thane Baker Invitational

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Tulsa track and field opened competition at the Thane Baker Invitational on Friday in Manhattan, Kan., turning in multiple podium finishes and meet records.

The Golden Hurricane was led by Billie Rouse's meet record win in the invitational 800 meters. Rouse clocked a meet-record time of 2:09.77 to claim first place in a competitive field. Andrew Lutkenhaus matched the feat for the men, setting a meet record in the 1,000 meters with a winning time of 2:21.50.

Tulsa's middle-distance group continued to shine throughout the meet. In the women's mile, Sara Morefield earned the win with a time of 4:55.12, while Kathryn Koonts finished third at 5:01.56. Matilda Laidlaw added a third-place finish in the invitational mile, running 4:51.15. On the men's side, Tulsa dominated the mile, sweeping the top three spots behind Levi Rowan's victory in 4:06.43, followed closely by Charlie Krasnoff (4:06.59) and Ben Brown (4:07.28). The Hurricane also placed four runners in the top six of the men's 800 meters, led by Brady Korsmo's runner-up finish in 1:55.95.

In sprint action, the Tulsa women's 60-meter prelims were paced by Isabella Famigletti's 7.73. Famiglietti also competed in the 200 meters and long jump, finishing ninth in the 200 (25.07) and 12th in the long jump with a mark of 5.54 meters. Alexis Cavin led the women's 200-meter group with a seventh-place finish in 24.82. Tyler Priest highlighted the men's sprints, running 6.92 in the 60-meter prelims and placing seventh in the 200 meters at 22.50.

Relay performances rounded out the day for Tulsa, with the men's 4x400 relay placing fourth overall in 3:16.50. The women's 4x400 relay posted a fifth-place finish in 3:46.01, while additional Tulsa entries added valuable experience across both squads.

The Golden Hurricane will return to the track for the J.D. Martin Invitational in Norman, Okla., on Jan. 23.
