Tulsa Splits Doubleheader Against UTRGV and Arkansas

TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa men's tennis split its matches in a doubleheader on Tuesday, earning a 4-0 win over UTRGV (1-5) before falling 4-0 to Arkansas (5-0).
The Golden Hurricane started the day on a high note, going undefeated against the Vaqueros to mark their third win of the opening weekend. Calum Jestin and Connor Doig clinched the doubles point for Tulsa with a 6-4 win shortly after Victor Tosetto and Gus Tettamble earned a 6-3 victory. Nikita Volonski and Timothy Carlsson Seger added a 6-4 win in the final doubles matchup.
In singles play, Carlsson Seger secured the first point with a dominant 6-2, 6-0 victory over UTRGV's Ivo Isqueiro. Jestin followed with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Loic Young to extend Tulsa's lead. Volonski clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-2 performance, while the remaining matches went unfinished.
In the evening match, Tulsa claimed one of three doubles contests. Tosetto and Tettamble were the lone Golden Hurricane pair to succeed, earning a 6-3 win in the third doubles spot. Jestin and Doig and the duo of Volonski and Carlsson Seger fell 6-2 and 6-3, respectively.
The Razorbacks won three singles matches to secure the victory, with the remaining matches left unfinished. Ben Weintraub defeated Reiya Komagata 6-2, 6-4 for the opening singles point, while Palovic's win over Volonski added another for Arkansas. Gabriel Elicha Navas sealed the match for the Razorbacks with a 7-6 (7-4) second-set tiebreaker win over freshman Ruben Fernandez.
The Golden Hurricane will look to bounce back this upcoming weekend at ITA Kick-off Weekend in Fort Worth, Texas. Tulsa will face TCU on Jan. 24 and either Georgia or Boise State on Jan. 25.
