Support our Fight Against Alzheimer's Disease
- Tulsa's home contest against Rice on Tuesday will serve as a platform for We Back Pat, an initiative to bring awareness to The Pat Summitt Foundation and its fight against Alzheimer's.
- The late Pat Summitt won 1,098 games and eight national titles at the University of Tennessee. A Basketball Hall of Famer, she knew her fight against Alzheimer's Disease would be tough, so she started the Pat Summitt Foundation so one day everyone will celebrate victory over Alzheimer's.
The Series with Rice
- This will be the 42nd all-time meeting between Tulsa and Rice.
- It's the second-longest series for TU at 41 games. The longest is 48 games with Oral Roberts.

Scouting the Rice Owls
- Rice is the only undefeated team in American Conference play, sitting in first place at 5-0 with a 15-3 overall record.
- The Owls also lead the league with a No. 67 NET ranking.
- In terms of the NET, Rice has one Q2 win on the road at second-place and 71st-ranked South Florida, Q3 wins against NET 85 UNLV and at No. 113 North Texas and a 12-1 record against Q4 teams.
- Redshirt junior guard Hailey Adams has been a force for the Owls, ranking first the American in blocking (1.5) and first in defensive rebounds (8.3) per game -- which also ranks sixth in the country.
- Four Rice Owls also average double-figures in points per game, including Dominique Ennis (12.2), Shelby Hayes (11.8), Victoria Flores (10.8) and Aniah Alexis (10.3).
- As a unit, the Owls are first in the league for assists/turnover ratio (1.04), free throw percentage (.817), scoring margin (+11.1), fewest turnovers (13.6) and winning percentage (.833).
- Last year, the Owls went 7-11 in the league and 17-17 overall. They went on a run to the American title game but fell short to South Florida.
Home Court Advantage
- The Golden Hurricane have been deadly in the Donald W. Reynolds Center under fifth-year head coach Angie Nelp.
- TU is 19-4 at home since the start of last season, 34-6 since 2023-24, 45-10 since 2022-23 and 53-15 since Nelp joined the program.
- 2025-26: Tulsa is undefeated so far at home with a 8-0 record.
- 2024-25: TU went 11-4 in the Reynolds Center, reaching the 10+ home win milestone for a third season in a row and fourth consecutive winning record.
- 2023-24: The Hurricane enjoyed their winningest home record in program history, going 15-2 under the lights of the Reynolds Center, including 2-1 in postseason play during the WBIT.
- 2022-23: Tulsa went 11-4 and started the home slate 9-0.
- 2021-22: The Golden Hurricane enjoyed their first winning home record in three years at 8-5 under Nelp in her first season.
- It's the first time since 2003-06 that TU has surpassed 10+ home wins in three consecutive seasons. Nelp is the only coach in program history to accomplish the feat.
Riddick Almost Averaging a Double-Double in Conference Play
- Redshirt senior forward Hannah Riddick has been one of the stars of the show through the first four games of American action, putting up 15.4 points and 8.2 boards per game, earning three double-doubles in the first three games.
- She finished with 16 points and 11 boards in the conference opener against Wichita State and earned 22 points and 11 rebounds in each of the wins over Tulane and Temple.
- Riddick was responsible for the go-ahead and-1 layup in the waning seconds of the Tulane game just a week later.
- She led Tulsa's 17-point comeback against the Green Wave with 12 points and 8 rebounds in the fourth quarter alone.
- Through 14 starts in 15 games played, Riddick has led the Golden Hurricane in boards seven times, blocks six times, scoring three times, assists twice and steals once so far this season.
- Overall, she averages 13.7 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
- Riddick's scoring and rebounding averages rank seventh and 10th, respectively, in the American.
- Riddick is also fourth in total free throw attempts (79), sixth in defensive rebounds (5.20), 10th in free throw percentage (.709), 12th in blocks (0.87) and 13th in offensive rebounds (2.20) per game.
- She's also fourth in the league with five double-doubles.
- TU is 4-1 when Riddick earns a double-double.
Toman is a Four-Time American Freshman of the Week
- Tulsa's Dora Toman, a true freshman out of Budapest, Hungary, leads the league with four American Freshman of the Week awards.
- The rising star averages 8.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.9 steals and 0.5 blocks per game with a 1.2 assist/turnover ratio.
- So far, she has led the Golden Hurricane in assists nine times, boards and steals six times, blocks three times and points twice.
- After making an immediate impact in her first two collegiate games for the Golden Hurricane, Dora Toman was selected as the first American Conference Freshman of the Week this season (Nov. 10).
- In the Golden Hurricane's 79-59 win over Prairie View A&M, Toman led TU with 14 boards, five assists, three steals and two blocks.
- She picked up her second American Freshman of the Week (Dec. 8) after averaging 15.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 steals and 4.0 assists in two starts against Mississippi Valley State and Creighton.
- She didn't turn the ball over once and totaled eight assists, finishing with an efficient 8.0 assist-to-turnover ratio.
- Toman had the best game of her young career against MVSU. She led the Golden Hurricane in nearly every statistical category, finishing with 22 points, nine boards, seven steals and five assists to help Tulsa set the single-game scoring record with 101 points.
- Then, she picked up her third American Freshman of the Week (Jan. 5) after stuffing the stat sheet yet again in the conference-opening win over Wichita State, finishing with eight points, five assists (team-high), two steals and two rebounds.
- Her fourth American Freshman of the Week (Jan. 12) came after putting up 10.0 points, 4.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals and wins over Tulane and Temple.
- She enters the upcoming came with five double-figure scoring games so far.
- Tulsa is 5-0 when Toman scores over 10 points.
- TU is also 7-0 when she has four or more assists in a game. She currently has five games with five assists.
A Golden Offense Backed by a Multi-Talented Defense
- After 17 games, the Golden Hurricane are second in the American with 71.85 points per game with a high of 101 points against Mississippi Valley State and a low of 48 points at East Carolina.
- TU's defense has made their presence known in every game. Currently, the Golden Hurricane lead the conference in rebounding defense (33.24) and blocking (4.12) and second in rebounding margin (+4.47) per game.
- Hannah Riddick and Dora Toman have powered the defense with a combined 12.6 boards per game.
- Toman is ninth in the American with 1.88 steals, while Jade Clack is 10th with 0.93 blocks per game.
Mady Cartwright a Scoring Leader in the American
- Junior guard Mady Cartwright is second in the American Conference in points per game (15.94) through 11 weeks of the 2025-26 season.
- She's scored in double-figures in all but five games, has five 20+ point performances and one 30+ point performance, peaking with a career-high of 31 points against Temple.
- She's third in the league with five 20-point games and one of four players with a 30-point showing.
- Tulsa is 8-2 when Cartwright scores 15+ points and 4-1 when scoring over 20.
- She took home her first American Player of the Week (Dec. 22) award after leading Tulsa to a win over Florida with 26 points.
- Her second American Player of the Week (Jan. 12) came after she averaged 25.5 points and 4.0 rebounds in wins over Tulane and Temple. She scored a career-high 31 points and went 5-for-5 in 3-pointers against Temple, becoming the first player in team history to accomplish that feat. She's also the first player in the country this season to land five 3's without a miss while scoring over 30 points.
- Cartwright has led TU in scoring in seven of the team's 17 games.
- So far, Cartwright is shooting 38.3% from the field, 35.6% from deep and 87.5% from the free throw line (84-96).
Excelling at the Free Throw Line
- Tulsa has done better than everybody in the American at drawing fouls to get to the charity stripe.
- TU leads the league with 21.59 free throw attempts per game and rank second with 15.82 free throws made, which nationally rank 28th and 19th, respectively.
- Two TU players shoot .800 or better at the line, including Layla-J Cameron (.917 (22/24)) and Mady Cartwright (.875 (84/96)).
- Cartwright's free throw percentage of .875 is first in the American (min. 2.5 FT/game) and 32nd in the country.
- Hannah Riddick and Cartwright have combined for four double-figure free throw performances at the line this season, with Riddick making 13 against Oral Roberts and Cartwright draining 10 against Temple and 11 versus both Kent State and Tulane.
20-Point Scorers
- Tulsa players have combined for 12 20+ point scoring efforts this year.
- Mady Cartwright leads the way with five games scoring over 20 points, while Hannah Riddick has four and Jade Clack, Abby Jegede and Dora Toman each have one.
- TU is 8-2 when a player scores over 20 points.
- There's been two games where two Tulsa players reached 20 points in a single game this season. It was Hannah Riddick and Mady Cartwright in back-to-back wins against Tulane and Temple.
- So far, Jegede and Riddick each have eight career 20+ point games, while Cartwright has seven and Clack and Toman each have one.
30-Point Scorers
- TU has had one 30+ point performance so far this season, and that belongs to Mady Cartwright.
- Cartwright scored a career-high 31 points in a home win against Temple, landing 8-13 field goals, going a perfect 5-5 on 3-pointers and going 10-11 from the charity stripe.
- Cartwright is one of four players in the American with at least one game scoring over 30 points.
Riddick and Duncan Return to the Court
- Redshirt senior forward Hannah Riddick has succeeded on the court since returning to action, averaging 13.7 points and 7.4 rebounds in 15 games.
- Riddick, a former four-year letterwinner for Memphis, exited the 2024-25 season early last year with a season-ending injury on Nov. 13, 2024, while playing for the Tigers in a road loss at Ball State.
- After transferring to Tulsa during this past offseason, she returned to the court on November 13, 2025, against Houston Christian â exactly one year removed from her injury last season.
- In her return, Riddick came off the bench and scored 12 points in the 75-67 win over Houston Christian to give TU its third win of the season.
- Since returning, Riddick has had five double-doubles, nine double-figure scoring games, including four 20+ point contests, and six double-digit rebounding games.
- Redshirt senior Shamaryah Duncan saw her first action as a Golden Hurricane against MVSU, earning six points and two boards in 11 minutes.
- Her last game before coming to TU was on March 21, 2024, in the WBIT first round when she played for North Texas. A medical decision led to redshirting all of last season and missing nine games of this season.
- Since returning, she's averaged 2.9 points in 8.1 minutes in eight games, leading TU with eight points and two steals at ECU.
- Duncan is one of 49 Division I players to be playing in their 6th year of college hoops.
Tulsa Boasting Strong Freshman Class
- Tulsa has put together 12 wins in 17 games thanks in part to significant contributions by three true freshmen.
- Dora Toman (Budapest, Hungary) has started every game for TU, while Alisha Peavy (San Antonio, Texas) has starts in 10 of 17 games.
- Peavy is producing 3.6 points and 4.1 boards per game, while Toman (8.5 ppg/5.2 rpg/3.2 apg) has led Tulsa in assists nine times, boards and steals six times, blocks three times and points twice.
- Haven Fisher, from Prior Lake, Minn., has scored in double-figures three times so far and currently has 4.9 points in 14.6 minutes per game off the bench.
- Fisher even had a third-quarter buzzer-beater against Prairie View, helping TU win that game by 20 points (79-59).
Nelp's Success in the 918
- Head Coach Angie Nelp is currently 88-54 entering game No. 18 of her fifth season leading the Golden Hurricane
- She currently stands in third place on the all-time TU coaching wins list behind Kathy McConnell-Miller's (1999-05) 91 wins and Matilda Mossman's (2011-2021) 119 wins.
- Nelp needs just four more wins to pass McConnell-Miller for the second-most wins in program history.
- She passed Charlene Thomas-Swinson (2005-11) for third on the list after beating UAB on the road last season for her 73rd win.
- No previous Tulsa coach has ever reached 80 wins in just their fifth season.
- Only two other TU head coaches won more than 85 games in their careers.
- Nelp is the only coach in program history to earn 10+ home wins in three straight seasons.
- She is also the only coach to lead Tulsa to three postseasons.
- She is the only coach to lead Tulsa to multiple 6-0 starts to a season.
- Finally, Nelp is the only TU coach to have more than two consecutive winning seasons leading the Golden Hurricane.
Last Time Out: Clack's Career Day Leads Tulsa to 64-53 Road Win at Charlotte
- The Tulsa Golden Hurricane ended their North Carolina road swing with a 64-53 victory over Charlotte, showcasing a commanding 40-25 rebounding advantage fueled by nine boards from junior guard Jade Clack, who had a career performance in Tulsa's fourth American Conference win of the season.
- Clack led the squad with 22 points, nine boards and four steals â all career-bests for the Buda, Texas, native. She went 9-14 from the field and added two 3-pointers and two made free throws.
- Three other Tulsa players scored in double-figures to close out the road trip, including Hannah Riddick (11), Dora Toman (11) and Abby Jegede (10).
- Tulsa led wire-to-wire, never even allowing a tie score.
An International Take on Golden Hurricane Basketball
- Tulsa's 2025-26 squad features seven international student-athletes on the 15-player roster.
- No Angie Nelp team has ever had more than one player from outside the United States. She's also only had two international players in total before this season (Iceland's Elin Hrafnkelsdottir in 2021-22 and Spain's Queen Ikhiuwu in 2023-24).
- This year, Layla-J Cameron (Gold Coast, Australia), Laura Di Stefano (Rome Italy), Abby Jegede (Toronto, Canada), Gina Nikola Pirjak (Jezera, Croatia), Hannah Riddick (Calgary, Alberta), Teresa Seppala (Tampere, Finland) and Dora Toman (Budapest, Hungary) are all set to don the Royal Blue and Old Gold for the first time this season.
- Di Stefano (Italy), Seppala (Finland), Pirjak (Croatia) and Toman (Hungary) are the first players from their respective countries to play for the Golden Hurricane women's basketball team.
