Women’s Tennis Secures Dominant Win Over Missouri State

TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa women's tennis delivered a dominant performance on Thursday afternoon, sweeping Missouri State 7–0 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. The Golden Hurricane claimed the doubles point and followed with six straight singles victories to secure the shutout.
Tulsa set the tone early in doubles play, earning wins on all three courts. Isabella Basson and Uta Asakura opened the scoring with a convincing 6–1 victory at the top spot, while Maria Santos and Carolina Alonso matched the result with a 6–1 win on court two. Lilitha Ndungane and Erin McKenzie completed the sweep with a 6–3 decision on court three to give Tulsa the early 1–0 advantage.
In singles, the Golden Hurricane maintained control across the lineup. Alice Baba and Asakura were first off the court, as Baba earned a 6–2, 6–2 win at No. 4 and Asakura followed with a 6–3, 6–0 victory at No. 5. Carolina Alonso added another point with a 6–2, 6–1 result at No. 3, before Santos secured her match 6–1, 6–3 at No. 2. Basson and Ndungane rounded out the sweep with straight-set wins at the top and bottom of the lineup, sealing the 7–0 victory for Tulsa.
The Golden Hurricane will return to the court next week against Abilene Christian. Originally scheduled for Sunday, the match was postponed due to forecasted winter weather, with a new date and time to be announced.
