Tulsa Claims 7-0 Win Over ORU

TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa women's tennis claimed a shutout win over Oral Roberts early Wednesday morning with a 7-0 sweep at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
With the sweep, the Golden Hurricane controlled every point of the dual, dropping just one doubles match and no singles sets in the contest.
The Golden Hurricane secured the doubles point with wins in spots two and three. Maria Santos and Carolina Alonso opened doubles play with a convincing 6-2 victory, while Lilitha Ndungane and Erin McKenzie followed with a 6-4 win to clinch the point for Tulsa.
Tulsa carried the momentum into singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets. Tayla Wilmot was first off the court with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles, followed closely by Isabella Basson's 6-1, 6-0 win at the top spot. Carolina Alonso added a 6-3, 6-1 result at No. 3 to secure the win, her second clinch in a row. Maria Santos earned a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2, while Alice Baba secured a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 4. Ndungane capped the sweep with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.
Tulsa will return to action this weekend in a match up with the ranked Sooners. #6 Oklahoma and the Golden Hurricane will take the courts at noon on Saturday, Jan. 31 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
