Tulsa Earns 12th Home Win in 65-46 Rout over Tulane

2/24/2026 9:54:00 PM | Women's Basketball

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Golden Hurricane (18-9, 10-5 American) secured a decisive 65-46 victory over Tulane (10-17, 5-10 American) in the Donald W. Reynolds Center, improving to a 12-2 record in front of the 918 Faithful. Tulsa's defense forced 17 turnovers and out-rebounded the Green Wave 48-36, contributing significantly to the win.

Redshirt senior Hannah Riddick stuff the stat sheet for Tulsa, recording 10 points and leading the team with 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals. It's her seventh double-double of the year and 12th of her career.

Junior guard Mady Cartwright led all players on the floor with 16 points, while freshman guard Dora Toman made her presence felt with 15 points in nine minutes.

As a unit, Tulsa finished with 19 total assists to only nine turnovers while draining nine 3-pointers out of a Reynolds Center record 41 attempts.

"Really, really proud of our team," said Head Coach Angie Nelp, who now has 18 wins for her second-winningest team in her five-year career at TU. "I'm proud of the way that we strung possessions together. That's something we've been working really hard on, is trying to be more consistent, and I felt like we saw that today. One of the biggest things that stood out was just the teamwork that we had and the way that we shared the ball. We had 19 assists on 23 made baskets, and I think that's who we are. Everybody can be at their best when we play that way.

"We took care of the ball really well. We rebounded the ball. That third quarter run, where we had that 14-point run, was really big in a stretch that allowed us to get some space and separate a little bit. And then I felt like we played well to kind of continue that. Our defense in the third quarter, holding them to six points, was something that we're capable of doing, and we did a good job."

The first quarter began with Dyllan Hanna scoring a layup for the Green Wave, assisted by CC Mays, giving the visitors an early edge. The Golden Hurricane responded with their first points off a 3-pointer from Shamaryah Duncan at 7:01. Hannah Riddick's layup at 5:19 put the home team ahead briefly, but Tulane's Kanija Daniel quickly countered with a three-pointer at 4:03. As the clock wound down, Jayda Brown and Mays extended the Green Wave's lead, with Mays hitting a three-pointer with just one second left, closing the quarter at 14-10 in favor of the visitors.

Tulsa surged in the second quarter, outscoring Tulane 20-11. Dora Toman contributed significantly with a pair of layups and a three-pointer, helping the Golden Hurricane seize control. Mady Cartwright added a 3-pointer, and Haven Fisher secured a fastbreak layup with 1:11 left, pushing the lead to five points. Despite Tulane's brief lead early in the quarter, Tulsa's efficient shooting from beyond the arc and strong rebounding allowed them to take a 30-25 advantage into the half.

Tulsa dominated the third quarter to extend its lead over Tulane, outscoring the visitors 19-6. The quarter started with Toman hitting a 3-pointer just 13 seconds in, assisted by Cartwright, giving Tulsa momentum. Riddick contributed with crucial defensive plays, including a steal and multiple rebounds, while also scoring from the line. Cartwright furthered Tulsa's lead with a fast-break three-pointer at 7:19, assisted by Jade Clack, sparking a run that put the home team in control. Layla-J Cameron closed the quarter with a layup at 0:07, assisted by Duncan, solidifying Tulsa's commanding position.

Tulsa maintained its lead in the fourth quarter, securing a 65-46 victory over the Green Wave. Key plays included Cameron's three-pointer at 6:59, extending the lead to 53-35, assisted by Riddick. Cartwright added to Tulsa's advantage with two free throws at 2:26 following a technical foul. Despite efforts from Tulane's Mecailin Marshall, who contributed with multiple scores, Tulsa's balanced scoring and strong rebounding, highlighted by Cameron's performance, led to their decisive win.

TU will hit the road to face undefeated first-place Rice (24-3, 13-0 American) on Saturday, February 8, at 1 p.m.
