TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa women's tennis (10-10) swept Abilene Christian (7-11) 4-0 Friday afternoon to secure its tenth win of the season.
The match marked Tulsa's second straight 4-0 result after a win over UTSA last weekend.
The Golden Hurricane wasted no time in doubles, locking up the point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions without dropping a set. Maria Santos and Isabella Basson, along with Lilitha Ndungane and Carolina Alonso, each posted 6-0 victories over their Wildcat opponents. Coral Valle and Erin McKenzie led 5-1 in the third doubles match when play was halted.
Tulsa took longer to gain traction in singles but controlled the outcome with three straight-set victories and the clinching three-set win. Alice Baba put Tulsa on the board first, defeating Alice Klinteby 6-1, 6-2. Alonso followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win.
McKenzie delivered the clincher for the third time this season. The Johannesburg, South Africa, native opened with a 6-0 set before Elsa Luthar responded with a 6-2 second set. McKenzie answered decisively, closing the match with a 6-2 final set.
Three matches remained unfinished at clinch, with two courts already in third sets.
The Golden Hurricane returns to the Michael D. Case Center on Sunday to face American Conference opponent North Texas at 1:30 p.m. The match will stream on ESPN+, and the first 50 fans will receive free Tulsa Tennis rally towels.
