Men’s Tennis Falls to Charlotte 4-1

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Tulsa men's tennis (14-12) dropped a hard-fought road match to No. 54 Charlotte (14-7) at the Halton Wagner Tennis Complex Saturday afternoon.
Charlotte secured the early advantage by taking the doubles point, winning two of three courts. Tulsa picked up a strong win at No. 2 doubles as Nikita Volonski and Timothy Carlsson Seger handled Andres Medus and E. Sanchez Bronzetti, but Charlotte responded with victories on courts one and three to claim the point.
In singles play, Charlotte built its lead with wins on courts one, four and five. Vasco Prata defeated Volonski at the top spot, while Moritz Muenster and Massimo Pizzigoni added straight-set wins over Ruben Fernandez and Reiya Komagata at No. 4 and No. 5. Tulsa answered with a point from Takeshi Taco, who earned a win over Medus to keep the match within reach.
Two matches went unfinished, including a tight battle between Ivan Dreycopp and Carlsson Seger at No. 2 singles, as well as Victor Tosetto's match on court six.
Tulsa concludes their regular season with a match against UNC-Wilmington tomorrow in Charlotte. Play is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. CT.
