TU Leads After Day 1 of the American Conference Championship

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — After the opening round of the American Conference Championship, the Tulsa women's golf team holds a four-shot lead. The Golden Hurricane posted its best round of the spring season with a 4-under par 284.
Tulsa was the only team under par on the day and leads UTSA by four shots, while East Carolina and South Florida sit five strokes back. The Golden Hurricane is also the only team with three players in the top five after 18 holes.

Samantha Olson and Jenni Roller led the way for Tulsa, each carding a three-under par 69 to sit tied for second place.
Olson recorded six birdies on the day, including three on each nine, finishing with a 1-under par 35 on the front side. Her 69 marks her first round in the 60s since the opening tournament of the spring season.
Roller overcame a slow start, carding three bogeys in her first six holes before catching fire. She birdied holes seven and nine before reeling off five consecutive birdies. Roller finished with seven birdies on the round, marking her first round in the 60s this spring.
Romaine Masserey added a strong performance with a two-under par 70 and is tied for fourth place. After an even-par front nine, she birdied her first two holes on the back nine and added an eagle on hole 12. She closed her round with four consecutive pars to remain under par.
Allyn Stephens and Zoe Shamy rounded out the Golden Hurricane lineup. Stephens posted a 4-over par 76 and is tied for 30th, while Shamy recorded a 5-over par 77 and sits tied for 35th.
Tulsa returns to action Tuesday for the second round, where the Golden Hurricane will be paired with UTSA and East Carolina. Tee times are scheduled from 7:50–8:30 a.m. CT.
