Huntington, WV -- Ben Uzoh had 22 points but it wasn't enough for Tulsa in a 64-58 loss against the Marshall Thundering Herd in front of 5,324 fans at the Cam Henderson Center. Tulsa fell to 19-7 overall and 8-4 in Conference USA play, while Marshall improved to 19-7 and 7-4 in league action.

Jerome Jordan added a double-double for the Hurricane with 13 points and 15 rebounds. The Herd had four double-figure scorers led by Hassan Whiteside's 17 points, while Chris Lutz tallied 15 points, Damier Pitts 13 and Tyler Wilkerson 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Tulsa took only its' second lead of the game at the 12:32 mark of the second half, 42-41, since a 7-6 lead in the first four minutes of the game. The Hurricane built its' lead to five points, 50-45 with 8:10 remaining in the contest, but Marshall battled back. The Herd took the lead for good, 56-54 on a three-pointer by Chris Lutz with 2:51 left in the game. Marshall made 8 of their next 10 free throws to hang on for the lead.

For the game, Tulsa held a 42-33 rebounding edge, while Marshall shot 31 free throws to Tulsa's 13. After committing just five fouls ion the first half, the Hurricane was called for its 10th team foul in the second half at the 11 mark.

Tulsa converted just one of seven 3-point field goals for the game, while Marshall made five of 13 treys.

Marshall held a 30-25 halftime lead after building an 11-point lead, 30-19, at the 3:11 mark of the first half. The Hurricane closed the gap to five points at halftime with a 6-0 run to close-out the first period of play.

The two teams shot nearly identical in the first half, Tulsa hitting 34-percent of its field goals, while Marshall at 32 percent. Among the field goals, Tulsa did not connect on two attempts from three-point range, while the Herd was 3-of-8 from behind the arc. Both teams connected on 5-of-6 free throws for 83-percent through the first 20 minutes.

The Hurricane will return home for a Saturday afternoon game against the first-place UTEP Miners. Tip-off is at 3:00 pm at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. Legendary Tulsa coach Nolan Richardson will be signing his new book "Forty Minutes of Hell: The Extraordinary Life of Nolan Richardson" beginning at 1:30 pm on the concourse level.
