Freshman Lorena Tseng Wins Title at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown Leading Tulsa to Second Place Finish

LAS VEGAS, Nev. –Tulsa freshman golfer Lorena Tseng won individual medalist honors Tuesday at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, leading the Golden Hurricane women to a second-place team finish at the par-72 Boulder Creek Golf Club.
 
Tseng finished with a 7-under par round of 65 today for a 54-hole total of 13-under par 203, giving her a fourth straight top-10 performance in her first collegiate season and her first collegiate victory. Tseng had eight birdie putts on the day, going 5-under on the front nine and was 8 under going into the 18th hole, but had her only bogey of the round to finish at 7-under.

As a team, the Hurricane turned in a 6-under par 280 today and finished with a 22-under par score of 842, falling four shots shy of team champion Oregon State.
 
Tulsa senior Olivia Jackson placed 6th overall with a score of 8-under 208 after today's 3-under par score of 69. Sophomore Taylor Dobson placed 31st with a total of 2-over par 218, while freshman ShaeLee Scarberry had Tulsa's third best round of the day with a 1-over par 73 to finish at 4-over par 220.
 
Senior Johanna Samuelsson finished in 47th place with a total score of 222 after a round of 78 today.
 
In four fall tournaments the Hurricane has finished among the top-5 three times with first, second and fifth-place finishes.
 
Tulsa will close out the fall season at the Battle at the Beach in San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico, Nov. 2-4.
