Kilani Falls to No. 1 Seeded Borges at Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. – University of Tulsa men's tennis senior Majed Kilani fell in a back-and-forth match to tournament No. 1 seed Nuno Borges of Mississippi State, 7-6(5), 6-0, on Saturday in the round of 16 at the Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships.
Borges entered the day ranked No. 2 in the Oracle ITA preseason singles rankings, while Kilani was slotted at 39th in the NCAA.
The first set looked evenly match between the standouts, with each side going back and forth to a 6-all score. Kilani looked strong on serve, but Borges was able to edge out the Tunisia native in the first set, 7-6(5).
Kilani struggled to find his stride in set two, as the tournament No. 1 seed clinched the set and match over the Tulsa captain, 7-6(5), 6-0.
In doubles, Jarod Hing and Daniel Siddall faced off with Nico Borter and Guilherme Osorio of San Diego, who came into the match ranked No. 10 in the Oracle ITA preseason doubles rankings. The Tulsa duo found its groove too late in the first set, as Borter/Osorio took the first frame, 6-2.
In the second stanza, Hing exemplified his customary strong service game, tying the set up at 1-all. The teams went back-and-forth as the frame went, but the Golden Hurricane duo dropped the match, 6-2, 6-3.
The next round of the main draw takes place on Sunday, Oct. 7, with match times to be announced later this evening.
