The Tulsa women's basketball team dropped a 76-34 decision to Stephen F. Austin on Saturday afternoon at the William R. Johnson Coliseum in Nacogdoches, Texas.  TU fell to 3-3 on the season, while SFA moved to 4-1 overall.

"We just couldn't make shots," Head Coach Matilda Mossman said.  "Part of it was we weren't in sync offensively.  Offense is about rhythm and I don't think we ever got into a rhythm.  We just didn't get off to a good start, we weren't making shots, and when we aren't making shots we stop communicating defensively.  We weren't good on either end and didn't do the things we prepared."

Shooting troubles plagued the Golden Hurricane all day as Tulsa shot 15-percent from the field in the first quarter, 26-percent in the second, 16-percent in the third and 27-percent in the fourth for just 21-percent overall, while SFA shot 43-percent on the day.

Morgan Brady led TU with five points, while Desiree Lewis and Alexis Gaulden both had four points, and Crystal Polk, KK Rodriguez, Addison Richards and Maddie Bittle all had three.  Polk and Gaulden had a team-best four rebounds each.

The Golden Hurricane had a 10-9 edge in steals, while the Ladyjacks had a 43-25 lead in rebounds, a 21-8 advantage in assists and a 3-2 edge in blocks.

Tulsa had a slow start, hitting just one of their first five shots, while SFA was 5-of-8 to take an early 11-2 lead with 5:36 on the clock in the first quarter.  The Ladyjacks had a 16-4 advantage at the end of the frame.

SFA had just a 20-14 scoring advantage in the second 10-minute period, but took a 36-18 lead into the break.  Eight TU players scored in the first half, but none had more than three points after 20 minutes.

The Ladyjacks edged further ahead in the third quarter, outscoring the Hurricane, 18-7, for a 54-25 lead with one quarter to play, and had a 22-9 scoring lead in the fourth.

SFA was led by Chanell Hayes with 18 points, while Riley Harvey and Alyssa Mayfield both had 12 points, and Harvey pulled down 12 rebounds.

Tulsa will return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 28 against Abilene Christian.  Game time is set for 7:00 pm at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
