XC Prepares for Missouri Southern Stampede on Saturday

TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa cross country teams return to action on Saturday, Sept. 15, when they will travel to Joplin, Mo., for the Missouri Southern Stampede.
The day starts with the women's 5K race at 8:30 a.m. before the men's 8K run at 9:45 a.m. on the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course. A total of 32 women's teams and 25 men's squads will compete in the races, including American Athletic Conference foe Wichita State.
TU will bring a large contingent from both squads as 14 men and 10 women will make the trip to Joplin. On the men's side, 2017 American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year Scott Beattie will make his 2018 debut, while Austin Del Rosso, Adam Breaux and Isaac Akers also will be in action. Additionally, August Bont, Grey Howard, Peter Lynch, Mark Middleton, Jackson Schwartz and Robert Tully will make their season debuts.
Reagan Hausmann, who was TU's top finisher at the Hurricane Invitational two weeks ago, will be back on the course to help lead the women's squad along with Alyssa Bolliger, Caitlin Klopfer and Adrena Mazzei. It will be the first run of the season for the trio and the first race for true-freshman Caroline Miller.
Both squads will look for another solid showing after the season-opening Hurricane Invitational on Sept. 1. The men's team claimed the top spot in the four-mile race, edging out No. 15 Arkansas behind Akers' winning time of 20:12. The TU women placed fourth in a competitive two-mile run as Hausmann led the way, followed by Alyssa Solberg and freshman Alice Newcombe.
