Thelwall-Jones Wraps Up Play on Day One of Pre-Qualifying Draw

TULSA, Okla. – Freshman Tom Thelwall-Jones was the lone Hurricane to take the court at the Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships on day one, as he fell to Henrique Osorio (Fresno State), 7-5, 4-6, 6-0 on Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The first set played out to be a back-and-forth battle, with Thelwall-Jones and Osorio tying it up at 2-all. Despite a late rally from Thelwall-Jones, Osori broke serve to take the set, 7-5.
The second frame was even tighter, as Thelwall-Jones battled it to a 4-4 score. He would go on to break Osorio's serve to go up 5-4, then holding his strong serve to clinch the set, 6-4.
The Wales native struggled to find rhythm in the third set, as Osorio clinched the set and match, 6-0.
Thelwall-Jones will move to the consolation bracket, set to play his next match on Sunday, Sept. 30.
