
Desiree Lewis Named The American Rookie of the Week for Second-Straight Time

Tulsa's Desiree Lewis was tabbed as the American Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office. This was Lewis' second-straight selection as she also received the honor on January 7.
A forward from Converse, Texas, Lewis posted career-highs of 16 points and 13 rebounds for her third-straight career double-double in a 77-55 win over ECU to give Tulsa a 3-0 conference mark for the first time since 2008. Lewis also had 10 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Memphis. She had three steals and one assist, while shooting 46.7-percent from the field and 70.6-percent from the free throw line on the week.
Crystal Polk, a senior from Lawton, Okla., was also tabbed to the weekly Honor Roll for the second-straight week. Polk tallied her eighth career double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds over ECU, and had 11 points and eight rebounds in a win over Memphis. She shot 50-percent from the field and 77.8-percent from the free throw line on the week, and added two assists, two steals and a block in the two games.
