TULSA, Okla.
– The University of Tulsa men's tennis squad (8-3) dropped its Friday night match to the No. 6-ranked Texas Longhorns (8-0), 6-1, inside the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

The Golden Hurricane tallied its lone point of the night at the fourth singles spot, as Kody Pearson picked up a straight-set victory, 6-4, 7-6(5) to improve to 10-1 in singles play on the season.

To kick things off, the Longhorns edged out the Golden Hurricane to nab the doubles point, picking up wins at No. 2 and No. 3, 6-3 and 7-5, respectively. Despite dropping the point, Tulsa's top duo of Majed Kilani and Jarod Hing were tied with the No. 13-ranked doubles tandem of Harrison Scott and Christian Sigsgaard, 5-5, when the point was clinched.

The Longhorns drew first in singles, winning at the sixth spot over TU freshman Daniel Siddall, 6-1, 6-1 to push Texas ahead 2-0. Texas was able to widen the gap, as Chih Chi Huang tallied a 6-4, 6-0 win over Boriss Kamdem for the three-point lead.

Texas clinched the match with consecutive points from their No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots, respectively. Sixth-ranked Sigsgaard picked up a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 victory, while No. 14 Yuya Ito edged out Joshua Goodger, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.

In the final match of the night, Hing battled No. 91 Leonardo Telles to a third set, but fell to the Longhorn, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6(5), to close out the match.

Head coach Vince Westbrook's squad will get its chance to rebound on Sunday with another stiff test traveling to Tulsa, as Cornell will take the court against the Golden Hurricane at 10:30 a.m. CT.
