Tulsa Tops Drake on Saturday, 5-2

TULSA, Okla. 
– In the team's first outdoor home match of the season, Tulsa men's tennis (11-8) notched a 5-2 win over the Drake Bulldogs (13-8) on a sunny Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

To kick off the morning, the Golden Hurricane nabbed its second-straight doubles point to secure the 1-0 advantage heading into singles.

Jarod Hing and Boriss Kamdem struck first at the No. 1 position, winning over Drake's Vinny Gillespie/Bayo Philips, 6-4. Majed Kilani and Kody Pearson followed suit with an identical 6-4 victory to clinch Tulsa's lead at the No. 2 slot.

In singles, Hing pushed the TU lead to two with a straight-set, 6-4, 6-0, win over Drake's Barny Thorold. Shortly after, Kamdem notched a 6-4, 6-3 victory to extend the Tulsa advantage to 3-0.

The Bulldogs responded at the No. 6 position, as Drake's Calum MacGeoch defeated TU's Daniel Siddall, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. Tulsa sophomore Joshua Goodger added a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 victory over the Bulldogs' No. 57 Gillespie, while Pearson won a three-set affair for his team leading 14th of the year.

In the final solo match of the afternoon, Kilani battled Drake's No. 78 Tom Hands, but dropped in a tight match, 7-5, 6-7(4), 1-0 (10-7).

The team will enjoy a few days of rest ahead of its road trip to Florida for a Wednesday, March 20 affair with USF at 12 p.m. CT.
