Tulsa Men’s Soccer Team Ties SIUE, 1-1, in Exhibition Contest

The Tulsa men's soccer team tied SIUE, 1-1, in an exhibition contest at Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Ill., on Friday night.

Alejandro Chavez scored Tulsa's lone goal of the contest at the 16:37 mark as he finished a through ball played by Koray Easterling. The Cougars' Danel Calvillo evened the score in the 89^th minute of the contest.

TU was able to play 23 players in the contest, including Harris Partain and Felipe Flores, which both had two shots in the contest, while five others had one attempt. Cooper Clark and Bryson Reed split time in goal, with Reed pulling in three saves and Clark picking up two.

"We really possessed the ball pretty well in the middle 35 minutes of the first half," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. "We dictated play and Alejandro scored a good goal. It was good to see the guys apply what we've been working on in the first four days of preseason, and it was nice to see some good individual performances from our newcomers in the second half. We have a long way to go before our first game, but we are only four days into the season."

SIUE had a 15-9 lead in shots, including a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal, while Tulsa had a 7-6 lead in corner kicks.

Tulsa will play Central Arkansas in the final preseason warmup on Saturday, August 24 beginning at 7:00 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
