Tulsa Women's Tennis to Host Hurricane Invitational This Weekend

TULSA, Okla. -- The Tulsa women's tennis team concludes its five-match homestand this weekend, as the Golden Hurricane (2-0) host the Hurricane Invitational at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the campus of TU. The two-day invite features Tulsa squaring off against LA Tech, Montana State, and Wyoming.

Last season, the Lady Techsters (0-0) and Cowgirls (0-0) made the trip to Case Tennis Center, where TU blanked them in 7-0 decisions. The Bobcats (0-0) make the trip to play at Tulsa this year, as the Hurricane swept the Bobcats, 7-0, in Bozeman in 2019.

The Hurricane opens competition against the Lady Techsters in their first match of the invitational on Saturday at 9 a.m. Following a lunch break, Tulsa will face the Bobcats, but will only play their singles contests.

On Sunday morning, Tulsa will play its doubles matches against Montana State, and then wrap up the invite against Wyoming at 9:30 a.m.

By the end of the weekend, Tulsa will have five matches under its belt. Should the Hurricane go undefeated in competition, it will mark the first time they have started a season 5-0 since 2016.

Next weekend, Tulsa will head to Durham, North Carolina, to compete in the ITA Kick-Off, beginning Saturday, January 25. The Hurricane will be the No. 3 seed in the Duke bracket. They will face No. 2 seeded Mississippi State at 9 a.m. on Saturday, followed by a match against fifth-ranked and top-seeded Duke or No.4 seeded Kansas State the next day.
