WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Tulsa women's tennis team fell on the road to Purdue on Sunday afternoon, 4-2, at the Schwartz Tennis Center on the campus of Purdue University. The Golden Hurricane now stand at 8-3 overall, while the Boilermakers improve to 5-5.

Entering Sunday's dual match, Tulsa had won four straight against Purdue. The two teams have faced one another each of the seven seasons.

Tulsa broke a 1-1 tie and secured the doubles point behind Megan Hopton and Laia Conde Monfort at No. 2 doubles, as they improved to 10-5 on the year and 8-2 in their dual matches with a 7-5 win over Seira Shimizu and Nikol Dobrilova. The Hurricane secured its first win of the day behind the All-American tandem and No. 34-ranked Martina Okalova and Vera Ploner. They improved to 18-6 overall and 9-1 at No. 1 doubles by way of a 6-4 win over Nathalia Gasparin and Zala Dovnik.

Tulsa's lone win in singles came in the No. 2 position, as Shura Poppe captured a straight-sets win over Shimizu, 6-3, 6-1. The junior improves to 14-8 overall and 6-3 at No. 2 singles. Ploner won the first set at No. 3 singles, but her match went unfinished vs. Alex Sabe.

Tulsa is scheduled to wrap up its road schedule of the regular season on Tuesday, February 25, at Kansas. The match is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
