THE GAME

• This is the 12th meeting between Tulsa and UConn and the 11th as American Athletic Conference members.

• UConn is 11-10 on the season  ...  the Huskies come into Thursday's match-up off of a 70-63 loss against Memphis on the road ... UConn has key non-conference wins over Miami, Buffalo and No.15 Florida.

• This will be the second of two meetings between Tulsa and UConn this season, as the Hurricane traveled to Hartford, Conn. on Jan. 26 defeating the Huskies 79-75 in overtime.

• The Huskies enter the game 2-6 in the American Athletic Conference, while Tulsa is 7-1 in conference play.
 

THE SERIES

• Tulsa holds the series advantage at 7-4 ... the Hurricane is 5-0 at home against the Huskies, 2-2 on the road and 0-2 in neutral site games.

• The Hurricane has won the last 5 contests against the Huskies ... three of those wins have come in overtime.

• Tulsa's last meeting vs. UConn came this season on Jan.  26 as the Hurricane won 79-75 at the XL Center in OT.

• The first game in the series came in the 1978-79 season as Tulsa lost to the Huskies 89-68 in New Haven, Conn.
 

LAST MEETING AGAINST THE HUSKIES

• The Hurricane took on the Huskies in a conference road game on Jan. 26, 2020, at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn., as Tulsa won by a score of 79-75 in overtime.

Martins Igbanu led the way for Tulsa with a career-high 28 points ... he also grabbed 10 rebounds giving him his first double-double of the season.

• Three additional TU players scored in double-figures with Darien Jackson and Brandon Rachal scoring 14 points apiece ...  Jeriah Horne scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for his second career double-double.

• Tulsa began overtime on a 6-0 run sparked by a Rachal layup, while he (5-6) and Igbanu (3-4) combined for all of Tulsa's free-throws in overtime, as the Hurricane outscored UConn in the extra period 18-14 for the victory.

• The Tulsa bench shined, scoring 46 of 79 points ... Igbanu and Jackson led the bench attack with 42 points.

• The Hurricane held UConn to just 39.7 percent from the field and 27.3 percent from 3-point range. Tulsa out-rebounded the Huskies 42-34 and outscored UConn in the paint 42-32.

• The Huskies had 4 in double-figures led by James Bouknight who scored 16 points going 6-11 from the field. Akok Akok put in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 7 blocks, while Sidney Wilson had 12 points. Vital scored 11 all of which came in the second half and overtime.
 

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES

• UConn was picked to finish 6th in the American Athletic Conference ... the Huskies finished last season with a record of 16-17, 6-12  in conference play.

• UConn is coached by second-year head coach Dan Hurley.

• The Huskies are 2-6 in conference play most recently losing to Memphis on the road, 70-63 on Saturday, Feb 1.

• UConn is 0-5 on the road this year ... they are 9-3 at home and 2-2 in neutral site games.

• The Huskies'  Christian Vital ranks among the AAC's top-10 for points (14.3) and rebounds (6.6) 

• Three Huskies score 9+ points a game, James Bouknight (10.3), Tyler Polley (9.5), and Alterique Gilber (9.0).

• Gilbert and Vital were both named to the Preseason All-Conference Second Team.

THREE IN A ROW

• Tulsa has had the last 3 American Athltic Conference Players of the Week ... the latest was Elijah Joiner (Feb. 3) after a 22-point, 5-rebound, 5-assist and buzzeer-beating game-winning 3-pointer vs. #23 Wichita State.

• The week before (Jan. 27), Martins Igbanu averaged 19.5 points and 8.0 boards in wins over #20 Memphis and UConn.

• On Jan, 20, Brandon Rachal earned his second weekly honor with 18.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in road wins at ECU and Tulane.
 

A TULSA WIN WOULD

• Give Tulsa its 8th victory against UConn in 12  games in the series.

• Improve Tulsa's winning streak to 7 wins, the most since a 12-game winning streak in the 2014-15 season under Frank Haith.

• Give Tulsa their second win in 2 games for the month of February and improve Tulsa's record in 2020 to 8-1.

• Give the Hurricane their 16th win of the season, and an 8-1 record in conference play. 

• Improve Tulsa's record at home this season to 12-1.
