
Tulsa Golf Coach Annie Young Wins WOGA State Amateur Title

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. –– The University of Tulsa head women's golf coach Annie Young captured the Women's Oklahoma Golf Association (WOGA) State Amateur Championship on Thursday at the Golf Club of Oklahoma.
Young adds the WOGA amateur crown to her trophy case. She is a two-time Utah Women's State Amateur Champion, the 2002 USGA Women's Amateur Publinks Champion and was a member of the 2004 Curtis Cup Championship Team.
Tulsa's third-year head coach went 4 up against Sydney Hermann from Putnam City after nine holes Thursday morning. She sank a 30-foot birdie putt on hole 13 to extend her lead to 5 up before closing out the match on the 14th with an 18-foot birdie.
Young advanced to Thursday's title match by defeating Janet Miller of Catoosa 5 and 3 in the semifinal after cruising past Faith Hopkins of Bartlesville 6 and 5 in Wednesday morning's quarterfinal round.
Young was an All-America golfer at Oklahoma State and later coached the Cowgirls as well as coaching at Cal State Northridge and Colorado State before coming to Tulsa.
