
Tulsa Volleyball Downs Memphis in Four Sets

MEMPHIS, Tenn. ― Coming off a sweep of SMU Friday night, the Tulsa volleyball team battled back to beat Memphis in four sets Sunday afternoon, 18-25, 26-24, 25-16, 25-20. Tulsa improves to 9-6 overall, 4-2 in American Athletic Conference play. Memphis drops to 8-10, 1-5 in AAC play.
Aysu Dalogullari tallied a career-high 15 kills to go along with 11 digs, her third double-double of the season. Kayley Cassaday recorded 13 kills on .323 hitting percentage, including her 500th career kill during the first set. Maggie Hembree was the third Golden Hurricane with double digit kills, posting 11 kills and four total blocks.
Avery Kalsu assisted 44 Tulsa kills, while also digging 17 Memphis attacks. Callie Cook had seven kills on .312 hitting percentage to go along with four total blocks, while Rachel Brown also recorded four total blocks off the bench.
Tulsa dropped the first set and was one point away from being down 2-0 in the match at 24-23 Memphis late in the second set. The Hurricane rattled off three straight points, including a service ace by Hembree that helped give Tulsa a 26-24 second set victory.
Tulsa rolled through the third set, including a 6-0 run that pushed the lead to 23-14 before a Hembree kill gave Tulsa a 25-16 victory. In the fourth set, the Hurricane jumped out to a 13-3 lead, coasting to a 25-20 victory and the ninth win of the season.
Tulsa will look to continue its winning streak when they host the Cincinnati Bearcats on Friday, October 15th at 7 pm in the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
