
Tulsa Volleyball Knocks Off East Carolina in Four Sets

TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa volleyball team beat East Carolina Sunday afternoon in four sets, 25-19, 22-25, 27-25, 25-21. Tulsa improves to 10-7 overall, 5-3 in American Athletic Conference play while ECU drops to 7-10, 3-5 in AAC play.
Kayley Cassaday recorded 21 kills, one off her career high, as well has tallying three blocks. Maggie Hembree recorded 12 kills off .667 hitting percentage. Aysu Dalogullari was the third Golden Hurricane with double digit kills with 11.
Callie Cook and Rachel Brown both tallied five blocks, and Avery Kalsu continued her impressive play, assisting 48 Tulsa kills while also digging out 16 Pirate attack attempts.
After splitting the first two sets, East Carolina had set point at 24-22 in the third. Tulsa rattled off three kills in a row, Dalogullari, Hembree, and Cassaday, before Kalsu caught the defense off guard with a kill of her own to win the pivotal set 27-25.
After leading much of the fourth set, the Hurricane were down 17-16 after a 3-0 Pirate run. Tulsa answered strong, going on a 5-1 run and carrying the momentum into a 25-21 fourth set win and the third home win of the season for Tulsa.
Tulsa will be back in action with a short week this week, hosting Wichita State Wednesday, October 20 at 6 pm in the Reynolds Center before heading to Temple on Friday.
