Tulsa Women’s Tennis Downs Wichita State 4-2

TULSA, Okla. –– The Tulsa women's tennis team downed the Wichita State Shockers 4-2 Saturday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Tulsa fought back from a 1-0 deficit after dropping the doubles point and improved to 9-4 on the season with the victory. Wichita State dropped to 7-13.
Lian Benedejcic's 6-2, 6-2 straight set win at the No. 6 singles position knotted the score for the Hurricane at 1-1, before the Shockers went back ahead 2-1 with a victory at the No. 4 spot. Valeryia Rozenkova tied the score 2-2 when she posted a 6-4, 6-2 win at the No. 5 slot.
The Hurricane took the lead for good with Shura Poppe's 6-2, 6-2 win at the No. 3 position for a 3-2 Tulsa lead and the nation's 81st-ranked player Martina Okalova clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 1 spot for the 4-2 win.
Tulsa will close-out a 10-match home-stand at the Case Tennis Center when the Golden Hurricane hosts the Big 12's Kansas State Wildcats on Wednesday, March 31. Match time is TBA.
