The Tulsa women's basketball team will face 13 teams during the non-conference portion of the 2021-22 campaign, including six home games in the friendly confines of the Donald W. Reynolds Center, five road contests and two neutral site games, as announced today by Head Coach Angie Nelp.

"We are excited for a competitive non-conference schedule this year," Nelp said.  "We know that this schedule will help us grow as a team and prepare us to be competitive in conference play."

The Golden Hurricane begins the season with a three-game home stand, including Duquesne (Nov. 11), Sam Houston State (Nov. 15) and Florida A&M (Nov. 17).  Duquesne has averaged over 20 wins per year over the past three complete seasons and have a 2-0 advantage in the overall series with the Golden Hurricane.  Sam Houston State had a 15-8 overall record, including a 9-5 mark in Southland Conference play last season. Florida A&M didn't play last season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Up next, Tulsa will face crosstown rival Oral Roberts on Nov. 21 at the Mabee Center.  The Golden Eagles have a 29-10 lead in the all-time series with the Hurricane, but TU has won the last two contests, including a 67-65 win at home during the 2019-20 campaign.

TU will then travel to Boca Raton, Fla., to compete in the FAU Thanksgiving Tournament, facing FAU (Nov. 26) and Austin Peay (Nov. 27), before traveling to Peoria, Ill., to take on Bradley (Dec. 1).  The Braves had 17 wins last season and advanced to the First Round of the NCAA Tournament. The Governors are another opponent coming off of a winning season, including their best conference finish in three seasons. The Owls are a program on the rise, looking to build off of their first non-losing season in seven years.  FAU won the only previous meeting against Tulsa, a 91-86 decision, during the 2013-14 season when the two teams were both in Conference USA.

A pair of home contests are up next, including Missouri S&T (Dec. 8) and Central Arkansas (Dec. 12).  The Sugar Bears tallied 13 wins last season, including winning six of their final eight contests.  The Miners look to continue to build their program, as Coach Kira Carter enters her second season. Tulsa and UCA are tied in the all-time series, 1-1.

A trip to Atlanta for the GSU Holiday Classic will feature games against host Georgia State (Dec. 18) and South Alabama (Dec. 19).  Both teams are members of the Sun Belt and posted 13 wins a year ago.  The Panthers finished second in the Sun Belt East Division. The Golden Hurricane and Jaguars are tied in the all-time series, 1-1.

TU returns home to face two more opponents who are coming off of seasons with post season success.  The Golden Hurricane will host San Francisco (Dec. 22) before closing out the non-conference slate at Oklahoma State (Dec. 28).  Tulsa recorded a 69-62 win over the Cowgirls last season in Stillwater, and OSU went on to post a 19-9 overall record and advance to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.  The Dons tallied 16 wins a year ago and advanced to the Second Round of the WNIT.

This will be the first meeting for Tulsa with six of the teams on the schedule, including Florida A&M, Austin Peay, Bradley, Missouri S&T, Georgia State and San Francisco.

The conference schedule will be announced at a later date.
