Tulsa Volleyball Returns Home to Host South Florida, UCF

TULSA, Okla. After splitting the opening two games of American Athletic Conference play last weekend, the Tulsa volleyball team returns to the Reynolds Center for their home conference opening weekend against South Florida and UCF.
 
Tulsa hosts South Florida at 1 pm on Friday, October 1, and UCF at 1 pm on Sunday, October 3. The match against South Florida will be on ESPN+, while the UCF contest will be streamed on the Tulsa Hurricane Youtube Channel.  TU fans can subscribe to ESPN+ to watch select Golden Hurricane basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball games.  ESPN+ is offered at $6.99/month or $69.99/year.  To subscribe, go to plus.espn.com.  Fans will be able to access ESPN+ content only after they have subscribed.
 
On last weekend's road trip, the Golden Hurricane downed Houston in five sets before dropping to Tulane in straight sets during the opening weekend of AAC play. Tulsa currently sits at 6-5 overall, 1-1 in AAC play.
 
South Florida is coming off two home losses this past weekend to Cincinnati in five sets and East Carolina in four. The Bulls are 6-7 on the year, 0-2 in conference play.
 
UCF, who was the unanimous favorite in the 2021 American Athletic Conference Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll, enters the weekend at 9-5. The Knights are currently on a 12-set win streak, sweeping their past four opponents, including East Carolina and Cincinnati.
 
Marta Pecalli, who is fifth in the AAC with 197 digs, currently leads the team with 15 service aces. The freshman tallied five aces over the weekend, including four in the win against Houston.
 
Maggie Hembree and Callie Cook have continued their steady play in the middle of the net, combining for 78 total blocks. Hembree recorded eight block assists against Houston, one short of her career high.
 
Historically, Tulsa holds a 6-3 series lead over USF as the two meet for the tenth time ever Friday, while UCF and Tulsa will match up for the 22nd time, with the Knights holding a 12-9 advantage in the all-time series.
