
Tulsa Volleyball Falls In Four Sets To #25 UCF

TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa volleyball team avoided the sweep but fell 3-1 (19-25, 8-25, 25-21, 20-25) Friday to the No. 25-ranked UCF Knights (18-1, 10-1 AAC) at home in the Donald W Reynolds Center.
The loss dropped the Golden Hurricane's record to 10-12 overall and 3-7 in American Athletic Conference action.
Outside hitter Kayley Cassaday finished the match with 15 kills to lead the Hurricane offense. She has now reached double-digit kills in 19 of 22 matches this season.
Setter Avery Kalsu posted a team-high 16 assists to boost the Tulsa attack. She also landed three block assists, tying her career best.
The Tulsa defense put up five team blocks (10 block assists) and 44 digs during the match, of which 11 belonged to libero Marta Pecalli. She has now recorded double-digit digs in the last 20 matches for Tulsa.
Tulsa will continue Homecoming Weekend in the Reynolds Center on Sunday, Oct. 30, to take on South Florida (7-13, 1-7 AAC) at 1 p.m.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Hurricane found itself in an early hole, dropping a tough first set 25-19. Tulsa trailed by as many as six points as UCF grabbed the advantage for good at 17-16 in a set that was knotted up seven times before the Knights took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 2 | A 25-8 second-set loss put Tulsa in a 2-0 deficit in the match. The Hurricane fell behind on the first point and never took the lead before dropping the set.
SET 3 | After falling in the first two sets, Tulsa fought back to take the third set and make it a 2-1 match. The Hurricane took the initial lead and never looked back to secure a 25-21 set victory. Tulsa opened up as much as a five-point lead at 12-7 before closing out the set. The Tulsa offense also got a boost from three service aces in the stanza.
SET 4 | Tulsa could not keep the rally going and lost in the fourth set 25-20 to drop the match. UCF grabbed the advantage for good at 9-8 and Tulsa was never able to recover in a set that was tied two times before the Knights took over the lead.
